    why rotary... when the mazdaspeed6 & mazdaspeed3 have a turbocharged 2.3L engine (producing 272hp & 250hp respectively)?

You'll probably need a lot of mods, since it wasn't originally designed to be mounted transversely.

As an answer... yes, if you have tons of money and enough time. Someone has already swapped an older 13B into an MX3/323 chassis.

    1. You'll need a guy who's intimately familiar with the wiring of both cars, pinout diagrams of both vehicles and a few months set aside for him to do the harness work.

    2. You'll need to fashion an adapter for the transmission bell-housing from the MZR 2.0 or 2.3 to mate with the Renesis engine block. You'll also need to fabricate or find some way to mate the crankshaft of the Renesis with the flywheel and transmission of the MZR, since the Renesis doesn't have a transverse gearbox available, if it did, you could have just shoved that into the bell-housing.

    3. You'll need to place the engine in the bay and have custom mounts fabricated.

    4. You'll need to make custom tubing for the intake (Renesis) or, if you're using an older turbo engine, you'll need to make tubing for the intake and the intercooler. You'll also need to make a custom exhaust.

    5. Ah, I almost forgot... you'll need to remove the fan from the main pulley of the rotary and make a custom counterweight/cap to replace it.

    -----

All-in-all, considering a used Renesis or Rotary Turbo might cost you around 200k pesos, this may be a 500-700k peso job.

If you're hoping for a rear-wheel drive Mazda3, tough luck. You'll need a rear differential from an S40 T5 AWD, and you'll need to cut out a new transmission tunnel through the center section of the car to accomodate the drive shaft. And then, you'll have to put in a fuel cell or have a new fuel tank fabricated.

But, at least this way, you won't need to Frankenstein the engine with a different tranny, just make a custom crankshaft to mate the transmission of the Renesis to the rear differential of the Volvo. And since the differential is already made to handle a turbo engine, it should be strong enough.

    -----

But if all you want is more speed, without the hassle of from one to two years of fabrication, testing, breaking and so forth, just spend around 250k pesos and buy a turbocharger or supercharger for the MZR 2.0 from the US.

It should be possible. The Tribute and Escape are both based on the Mazda6 platform (it's rumored that the next-gen Escape will be based on the 3), but I'm not sure how well the rear differential will fit, and whether the Mazdaspeed 6 has a bespoke (i.e.: all original) underside or if the stock Mazda6 already has a transmission tunnel built in for such an eventuality... although it would make a lot of sense if it did, as it would make production of the Mazdaspeed much cheaper.

In other words, if there's a transmission tunnel, yes, and it shouldn't be very difficult... just expensive, as you're looking at buying a drivetrain from a Mazdaspeed, and since there are no surplus Mazdaspeeds, it'll cost you a lot.

If there's no tunnel... you're looking at cutting up a brand new car... and that's kind of scary. It'd be the equivalent of trying to put a CR-V rear differential in a Civic... and it's pretty obvious that no one out there is keen on doing that.

well... the turbocharged 2.3L is a LOT more powerful than the RX-8's rotary engine (and eats less gas & oil probably too... hehe).

plus... a PTP member has already reported of seeing that engine in a junkyard in Japan.

    274hp... 274HP... 274HP!!!

You'll be a step ahead even against the Mazdaspeed3 (250hp "only"). Though without an LSD it sure is going to be a bit tricky getting off the line. Hehe.

yes mas magastos yung renesis engine, 18-20mpg vs 25mpg+ for the 2.3L MZR

also the renesis engine burns oil, mandatory oil change every 1000miles ( = 1600km ) and it needs full synthetic.

para matapos na, yung M3 na for sale nalang sa tsikot gallery.

for 1.4M you'll get a 286hp normally aspirated straight six, with rear wheel drive, and unparalleled driving dynamics.

can u fit a mazda rotary engine in a mazda3 or mazda6 perhaps?
