I'm not sure if everyone knows these shortcuts, but I use them many times:

There's a shortcut to Los Banos that bypasses the Calamba Crossing traffic.

And further along, there's a shortcut to UPLB. Here's the map and driving directions to UP Los Banos (UPLB) to bypass downtown Los banos.
