currently taking the c5 then SLEX
baka may iba pang way, same fuel consumption but without the toll fee
any suggestions ka-tsikotistas?
thanks!

pag galing ako sa mga inlaws ko (from diliman), i usually take C-5, go inside the Fort, go out of EDSA, airport road. pero las pinas lang ako eh.
i think that from C5 to alabang, walang ibang alternatives except SLEX. mapapalayo ka kung mag via-las pinas or sucat ka. and besides, you need to have some village stickers too.
i usually take the east service road.
from marikina, i take c5 from end to end. when i reach the forked entrance to slex, i hang a right going to the service road.
the service road goes all the way to alabang (in the vicinity of metropolis mall).
with the slex construction going on, sometimes i breeze through the road while cars on slex are at a standstill.
PROS: you save around 66ish++ bucks toll, distance is more or less the same because you're travelling parallel to SLEX
CONS:
usual vein-popping bottlenecks are bicutan, *&%^$*& jeepney stops, pedestrians, bikers, and slow trucks. the two-way situation can be a major stressor at times as well.
cheers!
SLEX is really the easiest.
The service road trick works only sometimes... during rush hour... at other times, you will be stuck for half-an-hour or more on the service road while jeepney drivers block both lanes of traffic picking up and dropping off passengers. And if you're unlucky enough to be behind a jeepney that's stopping at a construction bottleneck...
There's hope in the upcoming C6 project that will go around the Laguna Lake area... but that's years from completion, sadly.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
