*siacojin: Taking SCTEx when going to Olongapo/Subic is recommended to avoid the traffic-laden areas on the old road.

*nayki: You may take SCTEx and exit at Subic, enter SBMA, exit it at the northernmost gate (I think) or maybe at the Olongapo gate, then proceed northwards to Iba. Or exit SCTEx at Dinalupihan, then follow the old road to Iba.

Hello all! Thank you for the replies! Nakarating na ako dun sa Iba, Zambales last January 28. I took NLEX->SCTEX->SBMA->National road. Thanks to SCTEX the 5 hours travel was cut to 3 Hours.

From NLEX take SCTEX via Subic and from SBMA take the Kalaklan Gate then Turn Left...

At night though, when there's no traffic, taking the old NLEX - San Fernando - Dinalupihan - Subic route is pretty fast and comparable to going the SCTEX route during the day time.

You can feel the advantage of SCTEX at daytime travel (to bypass highly populated cities/towns)...

Pero in night time, old routes are preferred as traffic seems to lessen and also roadside assistance is available should you encounter any problem...

That's a precaution one has to take whenever they drive on any provincial road. Malaking bagay that they widened the highway from Dinalupihan to near Subic to 4 lanes.
