ei, spear! awan ti pasango minto diay balay inton christmas... we will be off to vigan after we close the shop on the 24th. hehehe! agiwaras nak to iti bibingka nu agsublinak! mano ti kayat mo?

anyway, here i am typing this post in a netopia in san nicolas, ilocos norte. i just logged on to check on b2b's directions to the mikihan near the partas terminal in laoag.

we were in vigan yesterday and i noticed that the bibingka ti paskuastands were on site again. i tried two of them but their products were not up to par, so sad... it's a good thing that i had my fill of boyet's sinanglao earlier that day. bagla ketdin adda consuelo na. btw, vigan is looking better, i swear. kudos to the local officials, i just wish i can say the same of baguio's.

ay wen ah! your directions were right on the dot. the miki's broth at christine's is a lot thicker than the one i used to have at the stand located at the foot of the vigan cathedral's belfry. i got the special, i am not sure about the price but i think it costs P30. it's got hardboiled egg slices and lots of chicharon crumbs (vigan's miki does not have them). very good, i should say.

i also sampled their siomai (so-so), and the okoy. now, the okoy is something else. it's thinnest okoy i've ever had, it's like crepe-thin. it's crispy and tastes very shrimpy. thumbs up! i bought up their remaining stock and gave them to my okoy-loving tita. she liked them too.

    great find, B2B!

those unfamiliar with the ilokano miki may read up on it at marketman's blog.

ilokano foodies abroad be warned: marketman's ilokano food reports may cause severe homesickness.

Has anybody tried Matutinas Baguio? Cause the Urdaneta branch is always jampacked. However, the times I passed by the Baguio branch,it looked like not many diners.I might be better off trying my other "must try/eat" places in Baguio. Thanks in advance.

i've had lunch several times in their baguio and urdaneta locations (and even the two "original" branches and extension in dagupan). there is no discernible difference in the quality of the food they serve.

the matutina's urdaneta branch's advantage is its location. the national highway has a lot more traffic passing through than legarda road in baguio. many of my friends from ilocos norte and ilocos sur on their way to metromanila usually make it their halfway stopover.

as for me, it is still siapno's dagupan for the grilled bangus.

Thanks for the info. We make it a point to have lunch in their Urdaneta branch as I crave for their sinigang na malaga, binagoongan and boneless bangus. However, it takes a lot of our travel time thus we always hit the volume traffic of Tarlac. Thanks again.

On our recent trip to Baguio, we stopped at the Shell Rosario junction, and
tried the Riverview Restaurant. Their dinengdeng, pinapaitan, sinigang na malaga and pakbet were very good. They even have halo halo for dessert. And their prices are reasonable.
Next time, I like to try those carinderias across the street.
