I'm new here.. I'm planning to get my first car... and gusto ko sana kia pride cd5 kasi dahil small ang body nya at muka syang madaling i-drive for 1st time drivers like me... I see many kia pride for sale in buy and sell websites that ranges 65k-80k (90-95 models).... please give tips on how to look for a good pride car...

tey24: in my opinion. smaller cars are easy to drive especially if you are a first time driver. I think kia cd5 is matipid naman. If you are a first time buyer and don't know too much sa pagtingin ng mga kotse.

    tips:
    1. low mileage car with good maintenance. check the maintenance book.
    2. check for oil leak in the engine, check the oil if sobrang lapot/thick. car might not be properly maintained. when you opened the dip stick, tingnan mo kung may usok na lumalabas. If meron, baka kaumakain na siya ng oil. try to rev din the engine and check if there is a blue smoke or oil coming out sa exhaust pipe.

    Hope it helps.

Japong... Kasi I'm only basing my choice dun sa overall look of the car (small, easy to drive) dahil nga 1st timer ako... and based din sa mga nabasa ko d2 sa ibang tread eh very low fuel consumption talaga ang mga pride pero that's all i know... do you think this is a good buy for me?

GOODLUCK.

Guys thanks sa mga tips and suggestions nyo... to tell you the truth wala talaga ako alam pagdating sa mga cars...

I'm still in the process of looking for the right car for me... but like i said
I like kia.. i think it the perfect car for a beginner like me...

My nakausap ako ang problem nang kia nya eh aircon freon charge lang then it was last registered 2007... binibigay nya sakin nang 55k then sya na magpapayos nang aircon at register... 45k naman bibigay nya sakin as is..
regarding daw sa engine no leaks daw at good condition ang makina
good pa naman ang body nya (based sa pics na naka post)
titingnan ko pa by saturday kung ok..

Do you think panalo? or not?

it might be better to take the 45k as is offer then you will be the one to have the AC fixed. There is a possibility that you will spend more than 10K but at least you will know what parts you replaced. It might be cheaper in the long run....

As a first time driver, and eyeing a 2nd-hand car....general advice(regardless of what brand of car you will buy)
    1. owning a 2nd hand car will entail continuous restoration expenses....so
it will not be a one time expense(during purchase)....pros of choosing a pride is that its part is much cheaper than other brand.
    2. The stock engine of the pride is only either 1.1L or 1.3L. For beginner, this is enough to get you to point A to point B.....As you gain experience in driving, you will find the engine lacking.....you will look for ways on how to add HP....bad news, there is not much you can do to add a lot of HP for this engine......good news, there are a lot of mazda engines that can be used instead
    3. Tips on checking for car condition
    a. engine. look for oil leaks or signs of overheating(rusts marks in radiator, water host clamps, discolored parts around the host area). observe its idling.....erratic idling is a sign of engine problem or carb problem(assuming you will be looking at a carb'ed car). high rpm during idling is also a sign of engine or carb problem.
    4. body codition
    - kia prides are notoriously known to develop leaks around the windshield and water drain areas. look for signs of bubbled paint around the windshield area. for the water drain area, it is very hard to observe unless you pour water on the windshield and observe the front interior floor areas.
    - check the wheel wells for signs of rusted parts
    - check the electricals/lightings.
    5. ask to check the documents of the car. CR and OR.
    6. prepare to cough up the same amount of money for your future maintenance.

Others, please add your advice to the TS.

Ito ang nakalimutan niyo mga tsikoteers.

Make sure it was not an Ex-Taxi.

this might be a general consideration.......but there are actually instances that some buyers intentionally look for ex-taxi.....since they can haggle for rock bottom prices...some of our members turned those ex-taxis into carshow winners....but of course, they spent a lot for the restoration....

I believe the last car show(not sure if it pushed through) held in SM clark has a blue kia pride entry...he is one of our members....and that was an ex-taxi....as long as you are willing to shell-out money for the restoration, nothing is impossible....
the owner actually has 2 car show level rides.....the other one is a pajero
