Hi everyone I would just like to inquire is it ok to get a 2nd hand kia carens 2009 model m/t with 65k millage? I mean do this engine give up easily considering it has 65k km on it? I'v read around that its flywheel often gives up how true is this? Any other issues with carens? I'm pretty nervous with it's millage but I'v seen the car it's ok and it's super clean inside and out(just some minor scratches)

    Thanks!

    2009 ? So that's about 21,600 annually.

Too high, IMO. Average mileage for 09 models should be only around 30k. Highest possible I'd get is around 40-45k.

we have the 09 model... daily used.. mag 40k kms pa lang...

high mileage cars means two things, the car was used regularly does not spend so much time in repairs or the car is abused to maximize its value...

low mileage cars means two things, the car is well kept and seldom used or it has spend so much time in repair shop that the owner has no time to use it...

if it drives well on your test drive, I'd say its a good gamble (if the price is right). We've had our carens since 2007 (66K odo reading) and all problems we've had are aircon related, minor ones (magnetic coil, busted rubber hose) other than that it still drives the same as when we bought it.

Forget the mileage. See how it drives.

At 65k kilometers, it did an average of 59 kms a day. Given that there are some days it didn't go out, that's probably 80-100 kms every day of travel.

If you're unlucky, that's 80-100 kms in grinding traffic, because the owner did twenty laps around Makati every day. But seriously... who does that?

If you're lucky, they're doing 80-100 kms per driving day because they're probinsyanos, like me, who need to travel into the city. Which means over half of those 65,000 kilometers are highway miles. Which means that the car is in good condition, and has done the equivalent of 30k kilometers of city driving.

    65,000 kms? Pfft. That's barely broken in. Our 04 Lynx has 100k, our 04 Crosswind has 220k, our 07 CR-V has 98k.

Test drive it. Have a competent mechanic check the engine. 65k is nothing. Check how the car was maintained. I'd rather have a 65k car with lots of highway driving and very good PMS than a car with 30k mileage pure city driving and lots of traffic which may not be properly maintained. Baka the number of hours of driving ng 30k acity driving and 65k more hiway driving eh pareho lang. If the car drives and rides well and well maintained then it could be a good buy. Owned cars with lots of mileage more than 100k regular maintenance without problems and still very dependable. It all boils down how it was used by the owner.

I'd rather buy the 65k mileage carens with regular maintenance than a 30k mileage carens with no proper maintenance.

I own a 2011 carens a/t. Has been with me for only 7 months but has logged a total of 21,000 km. so far no major problems. Yes it has a 5 year warranty but the downside is that you are "forced/obliged" to have pms done at casa so as not to lose your warranty and the service at the casa is definitely not cheap. Power delivery is top notch. Better value for money than a sedan since you have the flexibility to seat 7 and it's a diesel. Suspension and insulation not as good as the innova though.

Carens with 65k millage worth it?
