hi! good pm to all. I have my 40km pms performed somewhere 2 weeks ago. After draining the gear oil of my manual transmission. I experience hard shifting in the morning when the engine is cold. After traveling about few kms it slowly normalize. I suspected the gear oil use (petron gl40 90). While the manual specifies gl40 75w 85. Any comment.thank you

i also had that same concerns before..until now. It also happened after they changed the gear oil during my 20k pms at kia baguio.

I brought this out to them pero sabi nila normal naman daw ang ganoon. what? sabi ko ako lang ang driver so i should know if there is something wrong.

some have suggested that the clutch needs to be adjusted...hirap mag shift lalo na sa first..

Your suspicions are probably correct. Since it's a thicker oil, it takes longer to get up to temperature. Why didn't you use the specified oil?

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Have your shifter linkage checked also, especially for cable type linkage.

I have the linkage checked last saturday. It improves a lot but sometimes its
    still hard to shift.

Before anything else I would like to comment Bong Rosal and Louise for the personal service they render me. Keep up the good works. Thanks

My friends and I (owners of Carens, Matrix, Accent CRDI) have had the same problem with the aforementioned gear oil changes because the Casa insists on putting 90w GL-4s. Among the best fluidity on cold engine shifting we've experienced came from Castrol 75w-90 and a Valvoline 75w-85 which specific model I have forgotten.

Another thing to consider is that they often put too much gear oil. The Matrix and Accent for example specify 2.0 liters but draining often show around 2.5-3 liters. It wasn't until I had it done on a gasoline station, following the manual, that I have had better results.

Before I change the transmission oil, I have asked the casa what specification of oil they used in 40t km gear oil change. they suggested that petron gl4 90
The problem is I cannot find gear oil with specification gl4 75w-85 in the market.
