What are the things one should expect when buying a Kia (Sorento)? It's going to be the 2.5 TX (m/t) model. Are there any quirks that I should be expecting? This is going to be our first Korean car, that's why I'm a little anxious.

Also, I've heard a lot of horror stories in some Kia dealers. Which Kia dealers are the not-so-scary ones?

I read that it has a pretty strong diesel engine, and it looks pretty good. I'm worried lang sa overall performance nya.

    Visit the Sorento thread.

Kia Quezon Ave. has been very accomodating so far. They were recommended to me by the Picanto guys.

Throw away all your preconceptions about Korean cars. Prepare to be surprised.

Hi, I joined this group but in the other thread (Sedona). The 2006 Sorento is facelifted and much more. It has the european look with projector lamps, trip computer, active headrest etc. I fell in love with the black model at Wheels. The only thing missing from euro model is cruise control and of course the vgt (30 horses more). At 1.375 you will get a 4x4 and some extra money for chip-up. You can still get that extra 30 or so HP's. The sorentos stance height vs. width is perfect and you dont get that "Celeste" headroom at the back and the AUV ride of the Fortuner. Sedon pa lang ako ngayon. Next stop? Sorento of course...

True Korean cars have improved. And i think they are way ahead of their Thai, Indonesian and Malaysian counterparts. The only reason why the Japanese brands carrying asian models have strong presence is actually dealership network with very long experience.

Another reason why Korean cars seem to be inferior is because first time owners treat them as second class vehicles (in the past). Unlike if we have a branded Thai City, wow feeling honda, kaya konting problema casa agad.

Value for the money. Kilo per Kilo we get better deals from cars made in Korea.

Drive my cousin new sorento ex last week. Silent CRDI engine, responsive engine, nice at transmision & good sound system + roomy interior. Medyo maalog lang sya pero hindi matagtag tulad ng Fortuner.

Good day to everyone, Im driving sorento v6 3500, im just wondering if there is such an incident where crankshaft bolt will just break? Ive checked on www.kiatechinfo.com, and i think this is a major issue. I just dont know if we are also affected here in Asia. And one more thing, when i check our owners manual, the Sorenta ATF suggested MOBIL D-II, this is DEXRON II , which is a very old ATF. What gives? In other countries they specified DEXRON III. thanks
