I currently am faced with a problem concerning the replacement of the transmission oil seal and o-ring of my Isuzu Fuego 4x4. I had my oil changed fairly recently and noticed oil seeping from the areas within the transmission and the two bolts near the oil filter.

I thought that the repair would be fairly straight and simple not realizing I would be in for a shock. I had the vehicle brought to your infamous Inteco shop along Quezon Boulevard for an estimate. Although the prices of the original parts was reasonable, I was astounded by the type of work that needed to be done.

Their verdict was the transmission had to be pulled-down. Labor costs for this job alone would amount to P 4,000.00++. They also suggested that the pressure plate, clutch discs, bearings, and others be replaced so as to save on future repairs. Approximate cost would be from P6,000 to P25,000.00 depending on part replacement.

I bought my vehicle in February 2003, use it regularly in my commute to work and have an odometer reading of 54,000 kilometers. My question is would you recommend having the whole work done? Comments and suggestions on how to proceed are much appreciated.

I have no experience sa pickup but generally pare-parehas lang...

If your MT has no inherent problems like sliding clutch, grinding noises etc, don't change the PP/CD/RB etc yet. Just change the leaky O-Rings.

Tranny works aren't that hard to do so if I were you, I'll just get OEM parts from casa and have it done somewhere else.

Average cost of pulling down a sedan's tranny is around 1500-2K only, so ask around.

It's a fairly straight forward mechanical job.

sir i had my clutch parts and oil seal replaced...same case tyo, except my intention was to have the previous replaced and then the oil seal since baba ren naman ang tranny.

if d pa naman pumapatak sa sahig yung oil from that leak at d ka naman nagbabawas ng langis, patagalin mo muna until your clutch is due.DJERMS here has trooper with a leak on the same spot for the last 20k kilometers or so, di naman lumalakas. if your pickup has done about 150kms already, i think clutch replacement would be a good idea and will save you the time and money. mine did 195k first.

i spent roughly around 15-16k all original parts (servitek libis) from walco; 2.5k ang labor ng pagbabang tranny if its a 4x4 because of the transfer case daw..hehe. around 1.5-1.8k pag 4x2.

    Gentlemen,

Many thanks for your quick response to my post.

I noticed that you mentioned a spare parts shop called "Walco," where Isuzu original parts could be purchased. I would appreciate it very much if you could advise complete address and contact information.

    Thank you.
