1. Overdrive is fourth gear. Turn overdrive on when you're on the highway, to keep your cruising rpms low. You can turn it off when you need extra power to overtake, to force the transmission to select a lower gear. "Overdrive off" keeps the transmission from shifting into 4th gear, but allows it to select 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
2. D2 locks the transmission out of 3rd gear. It allows it to only select 1st or 2nd. Low locks the transmission in 1st gear exclusively. Use D2 when going down moderate slopes and Low when going down steep slopes. This is safer than using brakes to control your speed, as riding the brakes going downhill can cause them to overheat and fail.
3. The turbo activates based on engine speed, not road speed. Typically, it starts spooling up at around 1,400 rpm and hits full boost at around 2,000 rpm, but there's not that much boost. I wouldn't worry about it.

And if you haven't yet, change your transmission fluid. It's safest to change it every 20,000 kilometers, especially on an old car.
