    Car Make: Isuzu
    Car Model: Crosswind
    Year Acq'd: 2008, 3rd Quarter
Mileage so far: 14,000 plus kms

    Problem: Pulsating Brakes

    CASA Solution: Rotor Disc Refacing

    Cost to owner: ZERO.

    Guys, my questions are these:

    1) For a 1.5 year old car, is this normal wear and tear?
    2) Or is this factory "defect" to begin with?
    3) Is such a problem supposed to be covered by the warranty?
    4) If yes to 3), shouldn't CASA have replaced it instead of refaced it?
    5) If no to 3) then why wasn't the owner charged anything for it?
    6) If this happened to you is CASA's solution acceptable?

According to CASA it's not supposed to be covered by warranty, yet
they refaced it without charging anything. Very strange indeed.

    Guys, my questions are these:

    1) For a 1.5 year old car, is this normal wear and tear? - Yes
    2) Or is this factory "defect" to begin with? - Can be depending on the results of the findings.
    3) Is such a problem supposed to be covered by the warranty? - Relative to #2 reply, since it's a wear and tear item, warranty has a slim chance.... unless mileage when this happens is "unusually" low... such as hundreds or a little over a thousand in mileage since new.
    4) If yes to 3), shouldn't CASA have replaced it instead of refaced it?
    5) If no to 3) then why wasn't the owner charged anything for it? - My assumption is that since only refacing was done, dealer 'may' have exercised what they call "GOODWILL WARRANTY"
    6) If this happened to you is CASA's solution acceptable? - Since you were not charged, yes it is acceptable.

But please bear in mind that since the brake system is part of what is categorized as WEAR AND TEAR, you might want to check the driving habit of the one driving the vehicle. (which may be you --- sorry, no punt meant). Improper driving (jack rabbit driving, simultaneous step of left foot on the brake pedal while the right foot is on the accelerator, etc) can also cause premature wear on the brakes/rotors.

But my advice to you is monitor your rotors. If such occur again not long after it was refaced, best to have a 2nd opinion on it. Of course, by another authorized ISUZU dealer. (since your vehicle is still covered with warranty)

    Hope this helps.
