    Dear All,

The company assigned to me a 2002 crosswind A/T. Unfortunately the previous user failed to maintain it properly hence a lot of things are miissing already including the service and maintenance records. Need SOS

    1. When and where to use O/D switch?
    2. How to reduce speed downhill without too much reliance on brakes?
    3. When and where to use 2 and L
    4. Mabagal ba talaga A/T?
    5. Shop near Pasig who can service A/T
    6. How to minimize smoke emission?

    Thank you,

Hi. Use search function to check out the various A/T threads.

    1. Always keep O/D on. Without it the transmission only shifts up to third gear. Turn it off in case you are climbing steep grades and the transmission keeps shifting between 3rd and 4th or when you are going downhill and need engine braking.

    2. Turn O/D off or use the other lower gears 2 and L

    3. For climbing steep grades or descending steep grades for extended periods. For short climbs or descents, 'D' is enough.

    4. Even the turbo makes less than 100 horsepower so don't expect it to be fast. A Corolla makes more power.

By the way what will be the manifestation that there is something wrong with the A/T? is it okey to step hard on the accelerator pedel at will to gain speed? Thanks

though you will not feel the push of your back, just look at your speedmeter as you accelerate...

one would be, the feeling slide everytime the gear shifts up on moderate driving... or the tranny shifts too late on moderate driving...

it's ok, the Electronic/Mechanical Sensors knows what to do if you do that.

    1-3 - sinagot na...

    4. Don't worry about how slow it is... the Crosswind MT is no sports car either... but the AT loses a lot of off-the-line push that the MT has. I like to play a game with Crosswind ATs. While going 80 km/h... I will say: "half-throttle" (steady foot on gas) "full throttle" (all the way to the floor)... I will do this over and over again and dare my friends to notice a difference.

    5. Can't help you on that, bro.

    6. Sakit na yan ng Crosswind. Even new Crosswinds smoke every now and then. Best you can do is follow a shorter oil change interval than the regular 5,000 km change, use a good synthetic oil, have the engine carbon cleaned (the exhaust, too) and use biodiesel or at least very good diesel. It'll probably still smoke. Welcome to the wonderful smell of the best diesel ever made!

Hey, at least it gets good mileage... and it's near unbreakable.
