You'll see lots of discussions about egr blanking whether to do it or not, to gain power or save fuel, or to go with a slotted plate(hole in the middle) or full block.

just a suggestion for MUX units sold here in the Philippines, with the applicable ecu setup and weather conditions, don't go for the slotted egr blanking plates...

This is done in countries where egr air flow monitoring is enabled and have strict emission standards, they get a cel if ECU detects insufficient air flow so they have no choice but to go for an ecu remap or slotted blanking plates to manage air flow.

So for us, you either go with full egr blank/block or not. It doesn't really make a difference if u would still allow exhaust gas (in any amount) to recirculate in your engine. If you really think about it, why install a bigger intercooler and bring in an efficient vgs turbo if you would still allow exhuast gas to enter ur combustion chamber.. It just doesn't make any sense even to have it in low rev, parang bakit ka pa magfifilter ng hangin meron din naman usok na papasok. Medyo kakaiba lang un logic [emoji4]

Now some would bring out d debate about blanking being harmful to the environment, i don't believe this is applicable to us either, if manufacturers are serious about that they would focus on building a good catalytic converter. Unfortunately, our MUX here doesn't even have any catalytic converter (which we can discuss separately in a different thread). So my way of protecting the environment is to blank my egr to maintain a cleaner engine and achieve better combustion. Bec a dirty engine with soot or carbon deposits would still emit heavier smoke than a cleaner one.

Wala .... The main benefit is really this dirty exhaust does not mix with oil vapors and create sludge in your engine. Increase in power is minimal ..... Some say low range increase in responsiveness/power but a decrease in top speed
