Pls comment on Starex with a gas engine in terms of reliability & Parts availability

Hello fellow Tsikoteers,

My friend is planning to buy a gasoline engine starex 4x4 . The one with a G4CS 2.4L engine. Similar engine to a mitsubishi 4G64. May I ask how:

1. reliable is the engine?
2. What are the typical components that gets defective?
3. Are spare parts readily available and where do you buy them?
4. are the parts of the 2.4L space gear and fuzion interchangeable?

reason why he wants a gas engine is because most gas engines are low mileage and seems like they are still new. He knows that fuel consumption is not good and it consumes a lot of gas but its okay because he will only use in once in a while maybe 6 - 8 times a year. Will appreciate all comments, good or bad. thank you.
