December 26th, 2012 11:50 PM #1531While reading all these issues you mentioned guys...I felt sorry for what you have been experiencing. but on the other side, I was glad that I chose another brand model (Ford). Maybe the saying is true that never ever buy a Korean made cars. Choose a brand model that is tried and tested already.
May kakilala din ako 3 yrs pa lang ung Sta.Fe nya kumatok agad ang makina. kakalungkot lang kasi hard earned money natin ang stake dito... Happy new yr tsikoteers!

December 27th, 2012 07:38 AM #1535I humbly think it's unfair to make a generalization that all Korean made cars have faults. The Koreans have made great progress on their design and the quality of the cars they make. All car brands have issues. Take for example the tranny problems of the fiesta, toyotas d4d problems and the knocking issues of the accent. We own a 2011 Kia carens that has been driven 50,000 km in just over a year with no problems at all. But yes, it is frustrating to have issues on a relatively new car whatever the brand, but I guess as long as they are addressed properly, non recurring and the dealer or casa is cooperative about it, then it's acceptable.

December 27th, 2012 10:08 PM #1536I agree with you that Koreans made a great progress on their designs but quality I don't think so... lets be real here madami issues ang hyundai na hanggang ngayon eh ganun pa rin..I haven't read any news that koreans made a recall of these defective cars.. did they??! May mga kilala ako na average Filipino who bought Hyundai na halos manglumo at magsisi... hard earned money at of cors 5 yrs mo babayaran sa bangko to.. maybe for some na above average eh can live with lemon cars but not for us na dugo at pawis mo ang katumbas mabigyan lang ng comfort ang pamilya thru brand new car...

December 27th, 2012 11:03 PM #1537Yes if you are talking about the accent knocking issue and lost of power that's true but as I said don't make a generalization that all models under the Korean brand are defective. If you read my post on the accent issue, my sentiments are the same that people are being shortchanged and it can drastically affect their lives. As I said, if it's addressed properly it's ok but since they are not doing anything about it, it's not being addressed. I agree that Japanese cars are still tops in terms of quality especially a Toyota but as I said they have issues also. The innovas D4d and gas tank problems were widespread but no recall was made. You mentioned something about the Santa fe and it's quality issues but if you read reviews around the world, most reviews are very positive. We have a 2008 Santa fe that has log in 189000 km with no issues at all. Nothing mechanical has been changed. Im not downplaying your friends santa fe woes and it is probably true but its not true for all santa fe and the majority of owners I believe are happy. Case in point, my father bought a 3 series BMW and in just over a week the abs light sensor lit up and the passenger door locks had problems but it was handled frantically by the dealer. My point is, lemon cars, whatever the brand, do exist maybe more prevalent in a particular model but it would be hard to pinpoint on the brand. The accent true is a different animal and Hyundai should come out and make a statement/stand on it.

December 27th, 2012 11:10 PM #1538This was my post for the accent thread. - I believe that some of the members here, from what I've been seeing base on their post, are hyundai sales representatives or are connected to the company in some way. I guess it would help if they would try relaying the concerns/issues about their product. Let their managers read the threads posted here and hopefully it will reach the leadership of the company. I believe it is your responsibility as the one selling to tell everything that is to know about your product, it's good and bad sides. When I was accompanying my brother in the US to buy a car, the agent was honest and kind enough to tell the issues about the car base on the reviews from experts and previous owner feedbacks. It's hard earned money. Don't you think it's an injustice not to disclose information about a product that you know has major issues and just let the buyer find out for himself just to make a sale? The new owners maybe smiling as they leave the dealership with their new car but the question is will they be smiling in a few weeks or months of ownership with a car that has issues that may affect how they budget their money, how they manage to go to work or bring the kids to school. It may be just another sale for the company but can have life changing effects to the average Filipino. We must remember that next to a house, a car is usually our next single big purchase. A purchase that some people have to finance for as long as 5 years with interest. It's not just a car purchase for some people. It's their blood, sweat and tears. Let's not shortchange them by being dishonest and downplaying these issues. Happy Holidays!

December 27th, 2012 11:26 PM #1539In general, I too have been reading other thread regarding lemon cars, and its really sad to see na wala man lang ako makita na reply from SA na would care kung ano nangyayari sa binebenta nilang units.. I also do see SA from other thread replying to threads...just my 2 cents, Bakit walang SA na member na tsikot that reacts or do action regarding their lemon product?buti pa yung mga tsikoters, car owners willing to help each other regarding lemon units.. Sana naman may maging concern na SA na mag suggest na " sir, dalhin po ninyo sa branch namin unit niyo na may problema, may magaling po kaming service technician na baka po matulungan kayo sa problema ninyo"...
