HARI sales take a hit due to the Getz's retirement
Who knew the departure of a teensy five-door hatchback could move the sales figures of a company as big as Hyundai? The eight year old sub-five hundred thousand Peso subcompact was a favorite amongst fleet accounts and budget-stricken individuals. But as the Getz finally reached its end of production life, the empty space it left behind dragged Hyundai Asia Resources Inc.'s (HARI) August 2011 sales down by 26% from the same month last year.
HARI sold a total of 13,271 vehicles from January to August 2011 - a 4% dip from the same period in 2010. Despite this downturn, the combined strong performance from the new Elantra, Sonata, and Genesis coupe helped meet sales expectations and managed a 4% growth in Passenger Car (PC) category....
