For around the same price, you could be driving around in a Jimny. 4x4 pa.

sHoCkAbSoRbEr drives a gray-market Matrix (badged as Lavita). Maybe she can give some input.

Me and wifey like it, but can't afford to buy it right now.

100 HP, 1600cc DOHC, okay na pang araw-araw.

I like the interior, well, probably because of Pininfarina.

    Reliability? hmm...

Yup, the Jimny is only priced Php655K, AT.

Got my LaVita (Korean version of Matrix) last March of this year at ~Php690K. And I'm only on my 6,000th Km mileage. A noble white 1600AT and so far so good, except for the small scratch on my windshield which was done by an unprofessional detailing shop after having windshield polishing... Anyway, this compact MPV is helpful and efficient, as I know Hyundai is really trying to upgrade their image here in the Philippines. I can see several Matrices now on the road and expect to have an explosion of Matrix owners soon, what with the good value, great price, segment busting space and overall good performance...

On fuel economy, I'm not that ecstatic about mileage, on the average I do 6.25 to 7.5 Km/L. I use Shell Velocity. When I go flat out (I've done 175 Km/h at only 4,000 rpm... with plenty to go) the mileage just drops to as low as around 4! If you drive really cool, say never above 2,500 rpm, the mileage can go up as high as 10 Km/L... So I guess it's up to driving style, best thing is, the Matrix gives you the best of both worlds. Very stately and calm when not speeding, and a beast of a car when you push it....

    My 2 cents...

Hey, ShockAbsorber, thanks for your input. Ive already decided that I will buy the matrix, I am just not sure which one. (Whether a LaVita from grey importers or Matrix from HARI)

Ive already been to HARI and so far their spec for 1.6 AT is very good:

    - 12 volt outlet front and rear
    - center console box
    - cargo net
    - cargo screen
    - fog lamps
    - mud guard
    - driver side airbag

The only problem I have is that the Sales Exec mentioned it does not have ABS, I cant have a trip computer as an option and it doesnt come with the rear spoiler.

I also notice that the matrix sold here does not come with a front door warning lamp. (You know the one that lights up when you open your door so that passing motorist can see it)

For the 690K you paid, what options accessories did you get with your LaVita?? Better yet can you tell me where you bought it from so I can maybe drop by and take a look myself??

    Thanks.

    - cargo net LaVita has this, and not just a net, it's like a sack that you can place something in it
    - cargo screen
    - fog lamps
    - mud guard My LaVita has this but i removed it
    - driver side airbag LaVita has this

    Niether mine

Yep, my LaVita has this. And the compartment on the passenger's side has its own lock, while the Matrix doesn't have

You can visit Gilmore St. corner Sto. Domingo St. in QC

    Thanks.
You're from Las Pinas ba? MATRIX is currently on ATC's showroom for this weekend, starting today. You might wanna check on it, too.

Do you have a number for where you bought your LaVita? I dont know how to get to Gilmore. May have to call them for directions. Also what the dealer's company name?

Also the Lavita you bought doesnt have ABS right??
