    Hi,

I just bought my Tucson Last March 27, 2009 at Hyundai Global City because of the 100k discount promo which ended on April 2009. I did not really give much though about Tucson since I like how it looked and its really cheap compared to other mini SUVs. It is my first time to get a Hyundai since I always liked Honda cars but thew CRV did not come in Diesel and I wanted to buy a Diesel powered SUV. I also read some nice reviews about the Tucson.

I was excited an happy with my new car. I had it tinted with a dark 3M tint and had its upholstery leathered which made the interior of the car really nice and elegant just like my civic. At the back of my mind was lingering if I made the right choice in getting Hyundai instead of other brands that offered diesel powered cars. Honestly, I am not very familiar with SUV diesel cars. I just read reviews online.

Then I went to the Manila International Auto Show just a while ago and saw the new 2WD Montero Sport which cost a total of only 1.35M with Insurance and LTO. And I said to myslef OMG! Did I just make a mistake?!! I just had to add 300k and would have gotten the 2WD/AT Montero Sport.

I NEED YOUR INPUT ABOUT MY DECISION TO SELL MY TUCSON AND BUY THE MONTERO SPORT. Is it really worth my money to sell my one week old Tucson for a Montero Sport?

How much can I sell my Tucson 2WD/AT CRDI? Which is currently priced at 1.118M?

Here are some pics of my Tucson.

    Exterior:

Interior: This is the only interior pic I have. See the plastics still in place? and the nice black leather?

    I would appreacite your inputs.

Enjoy mo muna bago ride mo. Wait for about 3 years (about midlife ng bagong montero sport) then trade in mo. Para malaman mo rin ang comments ng mga montero sport owners, reliability and issues. Its always going to be like that, you buy a car that you really want then comes a better one (or so you thought), it goes round and round and never ends. So hindi mo talaga mae-enjoy bagong ride mo if you think that way. Kasama ba sa trade-in yung pax?

No not worth it to sell it if you don't need the 7 seater. You are going to take a huge hit financially speaking if you sell your Tucson now. No one is going to buy a one week old Tucson kasi pwede naman sila bumili ng brand new unless you are willing to take a huge hit financially which is kawawa ka naman. And besides the Tucson is more fuel efficient than the Montero. And I dunno your needs but since the Tucson is a crossover and the Montero is a truck, the Tucson will still have better ride comfort.

yup, tucson is a 5-seater while the montero is a 7-seater... and this is absolutely true - who would take a week-old car (i guess you would not sell it below P1M)?) when he can have it brand new?
    - lets have it naman at the other side--- why would you take a big cut in price just to have the Mntero? wawa naman si CRDI mo...

Next time do a lot of research before buying cars. The Montero Sport has been available for many months already and rumours of a 4x2 model was already in the grapevine as soon as it came out.

To answer your querstion, No. Sayang yan. You just got to live with whatever regrets you might have, instead of swallowing a very substantial loss in the form of vehicle depreciation. That's just me. Even if its a few days old. The very second you drive a vehicle out of the dealer lot, the depreciation clock starts ticking.

Sean, you look familiar. Galing DLSU ka ba? I think we might have gone to the same COMSTA2 summer class.

Would it make a difference if I sell my Tucson now or after 1 year in terms of resale value? How much do you think I can sell it now, if I do decide to sell it?

Yup I am from dlsu. Hello classmate

Do you have a VERY compelling reason to trade-in for a 7-seater? The 2.5L MS does not have 4x4 capability. It is not that spacious either.

The Tucson have better handling and ride comfort. Fuel consumption is also in its favor. Things which are more important in city driving.

If you really want to sell, I bet you have to take a loss of at least 100,000 for a cash buyer. Remember, the moment you left the dealership, your vehicle has already depreciated.

At this point, what I would NOT trade is the lady sitting in the front passenger seat.

I will test drive the montero sport later and see if the riding comfort will really be a problem for me. I hope it does

Well kung comfortable man or hindi wag mo pa rin ibenta Tucson mo. Unless handa kang mawalan ng at least P70K the way I see it... Teka financed ba yang Tucson mo cash payment? Kasi kung financed yan lalong mas mahirap...

If you have the money to buy a Montero.. you would have the money to shoulder the depreciation..

My friend bought a tucson as well and sold it after 1 month.. better get and drive what you REALLY want.. well.. for me .. the Montero is more agressive..more versitile due to its size.. and would go up a notch in the SUV market.. Tucson is entry level.. Montero is mid level..

HELP! Shall I sell my Tucson 2WD/AT 2009 CRDI for a Montero Sport?
