Do you think that this car can be a viable option compared to avanza, vios and sentra units? Based on the latest car review that i read, it has a very good fuel consumption. It can also outrun cars with a 1600cc to 2000cc displacement even if it has a diesel engine. Please give me the best automotive advice. I am contemplating on entering the taxi biz. Thanks for your help!

I have seen a few Getz taxis, pero I wouldn't recommend getting one. Why not play safe and get a used Corolla? Pareho lang naman yung boundary nyan eh. If it has to be brand new, Vios or Sentra or Altis ka na lang.

By the way, how many units to you plan on getting? I have four (4) units running right now, and seven (7) more ready na, just waiting for the yellow plates. Nine (9) are Corolla XLs and two (2) are Sentra GXs.

You have to buy an existing one. Wag kayo maniniwala sa mga tao na 'may connection' na i-aapply kayo ng new franchise. 99.9% of them are bogus.

Bry and Pitbullz, if you don't mind, how much do you earn per month for each taxi unit that you have? Could you kindly give me the break down of all the expenses per month? What is the best approach in handling erring taxi drivers? How can you control drivers who steal the your vehicles' parts piece-by-piece? Do I still need to get a parcel of land which will serve as the parking lot of the taxi units. Thank you very much!

For newer taxis, I should net around 25-30K each. With older taxis I should net around 15-20K.

    Iba iba ang expenses eh.

Off the top of my head:

-Every six (6) weeks change oil and oil filter,
-Change timing belt, tensioner and bearing every 70-75T kms.
-Every six (6) months change tires

Tapos syempre madami pang biglaan na nasisira kaya be ready for that.

Ang madalas naman palitan ng driver ay yung tires lang AFAIK, kaya what we do is we etch yung body number and date on each tire para pag check namin tapos wala yung etching, huli yung driver.

Ilang units ba yung initial na kukunin mo? Akin kasi I have twelve (12) right now, kaya kasya pa naman sa office garage namin. Once I reach mga twenty (20) maghahanap na ako ng bigger parking lot na mauupahan.

Best approach for me ha in handling drivers, wag mo masyadong papagalitan kasi hindi mo alam gagawin nyan pag nasa labas na yan. Kung hindi mo type yung driver, kahit na may utang pa sayo, get rid of him kaagad. Lalaki lang utang nyan pag tumagal pa sayo yan.

lui: Yup madami-dami na nga kumuha ng Accent na taxi. Wait mga two (2) more years, mahihirapan yung mga yun sa maintenance. Yung uncle ko nga who is also a taxi operator (80+ taxis) and also happens to be an executive of Hyundai ayaw kumuha ng Accent. His fleet consists of fifty (50) units Corolla XL, and thirty plus (30+) na Vios.

15 km/l is the most realistic for traffic... the only points of worry in terms of durability for the Accent are the electric power steering and the shock absorbers. Shock absorbers, no biggie, since this is a problem that many Japanese compacts (including the previous Altis) have... EPS... unknown... but it's a stronger motor with more drain on it than others in the engine bay, and engine bay heat has a tendency to degrade electric motor performance over time (which is why Mitsubishi and Ford Lynx IACVs give out after a few years)... but at least the car will still be driveable (and liveable, actually) without EPS.

But most subcompacts nowadays have EPS, anyway (Getz, Jazz, Yaris, City, Vios, etcetera...), so it's no different from anything else.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
