January 5th, 2012 03:24 PM #2First try if the braking power of the stock brakes is sufficient. For me its okay na no need to upgrade especially if you'll use it as a DD. Just get a good intake instead, you'll hear the turbo spool (whining sound) and the BOV (aka dark vader sound) kakaadik. Mapapatingin ang mga motorcycle riders and pedestrians.
I agree with SG, get a v6 ganda ng sound ng engine.

The non-Brembo brakes are okay if you don't go racing. The stock Brembo pads, which is P34k at the dealer, is really a let down. Use it sparingly and it's all right. But use it hard and often (hataw mode, as in 180-220 kph) and it easily fades. Coming from Santa Rosa at hataw mode, by the time I reach the Alabang viaduct, may brakes start to fade and I have to cool them down. Changed to Hawk HPS and they were much better. Brakes starts to fade somewhere in Bicutan at the Skyway. Buti na lang medyo rough yung part ng Skyway sa area na yun so I really have to slow down. Decided to install ARK slotted and drilled rotos, front and rear, with steel-braided brake lines. Now, my brakes don't fade no matter how hard I use them. Some pics:

did you upgrade fluids din sir?
Thinking of upgrading din my front to brembos calipers and better rotors in the future. alam ko swak din sa 18s, even on stock rims. Reflash muna 1st step ko.
Hataw mode din ako sa high way reaching moreorless your speed... more on the less side nga lang.Never experience pa yun brake fade. Anyway I rarely use naman the brakes din. pati hindi ko pa nasagad talaga ang 6th. traffic eh. I usually stay on the 4th and 5th gear lang para may engine brake. 2.0 M/T entry pala.

Right now I'm using DOT 4. But I'm planning to upgrade it.
That's the beauty of the M/T. Your engine helps slows you down. That's why you never suffer brake fade.
On the other hand, the A/T is fully dependent on the brakes. Even in the so-called "manual mode", you can't force the tranny to shift down to a lower gear if it is not within the computer's recommended RPM.
BTW, another beauty of the HGC is that it has an independent handbrake system. The rear rotor has a small drum which is used for the handbrake. So even if your main brake fails for one reason or another, you can still stop the car completely. Of course, since the brake is quite small, it will take quite a very long time. Still, it is better than no brakes at all.
See pic of handbrake:

Great info sir.
Suspestya ko drum brakes nga ang hand brakes ng GC. Buti naman. I hate yun mga integrated handbrakes sa calipers. Upgraded my lancer from rear drum to disc. Nag sisi ako eh. hahaha!
Ey guys buhay ulit yun GCCP. May SFR reflash tour ulit niluluto, info lang for those interested.
Thread was made nung 2018 pa po sir.
