It seems like bad timing for the V8 Hyundai Genesis sedan. But, a 290hp V6 is also available.

    From Car and Driver:
    0-60 mph: 5.6 sec
    1/4 mile: 14.1 sec * 103 mph
Top Speed: 149 mph (speed governed)
    300ft Skidpad: 0.86 g
Gas mileage. City: 17 mpg, Highway: 25 mpg

Motor Trend did a review of the V8 Genesis. Numbers alone, it compares favorably with the Lexus LS 640 which is probably its real target market rather than the German makes.

    Genesis:
    Base Price: $38k
    4.6L V8, 375hp/333 lb-ft torque
    0-60 mph: 5.5 sec
    1/4 mile: 14.0 sec at 103.7 mph
    Lateral Acceleration: 0.87g
    Braking 60 mph-0: 116 ft
    Gas Mileage City/Hwy: 17/25mpg
    Curb Weight: 4063 lbs

    Lexus LS 460:
    Base price: $53.7k
    4.6L V8, 380hp/367 lb-ft torque
    0-60 mph: 5.8 sec
    1/4 mile: 14.3 sec at 100.6 mph
    Lateral Acceleration: 0.83g
    Braking 60 mph-0: 120 ft
    Gas Mileage City/Hwy: 17/25mpg
    Curb Weight: 4450(?) lbs

Hyundai claims the V6 is just one second down from the V8, and from our short drive, I actually believe them. Most reviewers agree that the V6 is good value for money, though the chassis tuning and steering are not quite as good as the V8's... maybe a V6 "sports" version?

Thinking of getting one, Jun? According to the Kelley Blue Book site, the expected resale value is better than a Lexus and far and above what the Sonata's residuals are right now. You know you want it...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Nah. The wife now wants an Odyssey. It's just a matter of what to get, a new, relatively austere model or a used fully-loaded model.

Personally, I'd love to buy a Genesis V8. But, having a 7-month old screaming poop factory means we need a minivan. He He

Besides, our older daughter has a tendency to scratch/dent our cars. I quit posting pictures of the Sonata because the kid has since put in some very obvious scratches and dents. It'd be foolish to buy an expensive car right now.
