I'm starting this thread for those who own a Civic within the stated model category. It will help you have an idea of how much parts are, where to get it repaired, tips, etc. Let me start this out with what I spent for today.
Issue:
Power steering leak, all four wheel brake overhaul.
Capitol Auto parts Commonwealth -
- Steering boots - 220 pair
- Caliper repair kit - 250 set
- 4 pcs. rear break piston caps - 120
- Bendix brake pads - 750
- Hose and clamps - 90
Shop - MOTECH North Fairview -Regalado - 20% OFF if member.
- R/P PS overhaul - 2000
- Brake overhaul - 700
- Alignment - 400
TIPl. If your steering shaft is rough or surface is deformed. You will need a new shaft ( Php6500 ) or have it hard chromed by Chrome Dazzler. 67 P. Tuazon , Cubao. Price is Php1500. You cannot use the shaft if it is rough or rusted. Otherwise it will just ruin the O-ring/seal and will eventually cause leak. Also, I called and talked to Honda mechanics from 3 different branches. Everyone said that using the Honda PS fluid pays more dividend than using the cheaper Petron ATF( 140/liter , red ) fluid. Any DOT 3 brake fluid will do for the brakes.
MOTECH Fairview-regalado is like RAPIDE albeit more reasonably priced. Take advantage of their 20-70% Off if you become a member for a year for only Php120. Mention PANSOL as your sponsor.
After doing my homework by calling shops, parts, talking to mechanics for knowledge and info. I was able to bring my first quoted price from 15k down to 8k+.
Hope you guys will share your price watch experience.
