    hello sirs!

i recently got a 99 civic vti (Sir body) with stock 14' mags. most of the tires are for replacing already. i just want to ask what tires do you recommend for me to buy? and where can I buy them? what brands/kinds of tires are best?

i do not have any plans of changing my mags into bigger ones (15's-17's) and would like to keep my stock mags. car is used only in city driving with occasional trips to pampanga via nlex or las pinas via slex during weekends.

budget is more on the conservative side, although I have a friend who told me to buy a special kind of tires (forgot the brand and what kind) which are a lot more expensive but will probably last longer. but tires needs to be replaced every 3years right? or are there exemptions?

    thank you for future help!

nankang brand is cheap. hindi mo naman ipang karera so you'd do well to just spend the change you have left from the tyres to getting your engine serviced.

i don't understand dudes who put exotic, expensive tyres on their cars (like the ad07s) pero yung kotse tirik naman ng tirik kasi nagooverheat. jologs pa din anyway you look at it.

going up the price scale, there's goodyear nct5s and bridgestone. they're nice but maybe double the price of nankangs. punta ka sa malalaking tyre/mags shops at sabihin mo lang: "patingin nga ng mga nankang mo jan" alam na nila na budget meals ka, hehe.

remember - the finer the tread, or the more pino the treads, the quieter the tyre will be. treads with big blocks with big spaces bet. block will be loud on the highway. hipuin mo din yung gilid ng goma, soft sidewalls will have a better ride, while matigas na sidewalls will have a harsher ride (but you can corner quickly and more safely.).

well said! pero kung bibili ka ng brand stay away from dunlop tires... based lang to sa mga experience ng mga friend ko na bumili nito.. parang eraser daw dali mapudpod... saka pag magpapalit ka remember to do an alignment para mas maganda ung pudpod ng gulong mo mas tatagal pa buhay nito...

thank you for the help sir. sana marami pa po mag post dito ng kanilang suggestions.

my trusted mechanic took care of my engine last week. my next project is my tires since manipis na po talaga. im planning to replace all 4's as soon as possible given lang po na i set my mind on what are where to buy.

sabi po ng boyfriend ko sa S&R daw kami bili since libre na daw wheel balancing when we purchase the tires. pero sa akin naman kahit saan naman po basta i get my money's worth.

i've been reading a lot about tires, medyo hindi nga maganda ang feedback re DUNLOP. so i will not buy them maski dirt cheap sila. what i said about my budget being conservative, ayoko lang po bumili ng napaka mahal na tires yun pala for racing pala yun eh i know i wouldn't be able to use it to its full extent. average city driving lang po ako, mag isa sa oto madalas (babae pa) minsan kapag weekends dun ko lang nakakasama pamilya kaya dun lang sya puno.

retain ko yung 14 stock mags nya since nabasa ko sa hondaclub its safer and more gas efficient. any more suggestions mga sirs? regular tires basta makapal, matibay, makapit, at maganda pag-ride. sana matagal din tumagal. im planning to put nitrogen gas once i buy it since 50 pesos lang pala kada tires eh. my next plan is to have my suspension checked para wala na ako pangamba. pampaganda na lang.

salamat po mga sirs. this is my first car kaya sobrang alaga ko unlike the previous owner. sana mahalin din nya ako pabalik (yung kotse ha hindi yung dating may ari)

pasensya na sir, di ko po ibig sabihin na mumurahin ang dunlop. i don't even have an idea on how much it costs. pero dami po kasi horror story about dunlop so i try to stay away from it.

budget ko po is 10-15k all 4's (or 5 kasama na spare if possible) hehehe.

Back when I still ran 14s, I trusted Bridgestones. In the five years I used my Turanza GR-80s they never gave me a problem. Quiet, but also nicely grippy.

I don't know if the GR-80 is still being made today but most of their Turanza range is great for daily driving. Try the AR10.

Goodyear is also a good option.
