Symptoms of blown head gasket?

Mga guru,

Ask ko lang po symptoms ng blown head gasket yung car ko po ngayon meron nalabas na parang putik sa ibabaw ng radiator mejo madulas kulay brown na parang kape pag pinahid mo sa basahan at pinatuyo parang putik po sya. ano po kaya ito?

di naman nataas temperature ng car ko, mejo nag babawas lang sa reservoir tapos po sa sa tail pipe nagtutubig pa po ung muffler pag pinaandar ko sa umaga. then nung check ko yung oil cap wala naman po traces na halo ung tubig at langis.

mga guru kindly advise po kung ano dapat ko gawin, nag drain na po ako ng radiator using radiator flush pero andun pa din. balak ko pa overhaul radiator kaso charge po ako ng 2400 kasi po papalitan na din ung ibabaw ng tanso for now po kasi plastic. for that nag iisip pa ko kung ano dapat gawin.

when your engine is cold, open the radiator cap and smell/touch if there's oil. one clear sign of blown HG.

when you turn off your engine, open the oil cap and see if it looks like a chocolate milk shake... another indication your HG is whacked.

nung open ko po radiator parang may putik siya color brown ung una kulay gary now brown na po, what should I do regarding this matter? tama po ba paoverhaul ko muna radiator ko? or top overhaul to cahnge the head gasket? by the way last 2009 dec naoverhaul ung makina ng car ko. it is possible blown head gaskey na siya since around 13k pa lng tinakbo ng car since binaba ung makina?

unfortunately, you have to do both at the same time. think about it, if you cleaned your radiator without addressing the blown HG, the residue will come back inside your radiator. now if you resolve your blown HG without cleaning your radiator, your coolant will be contaminated with oil which can cause some other damages to your car.

being the bearer of bad news, if will soldier on giving you bad news. you cannot just top overhaul your engine. from how you described your engine, it is now full of gunk. you have to have your engine cleaned as well. i am not sure how that will be done, but expect a not so cheap expense on that.

while you are at it, also replace your water pump. it's an option you could think about.

now, considering that you have these things sorted out, you should not be using tap water for your cooling system. this will contribute in corroding your cooling system. use a proper coolant for a change, it will be more expensive, but it will save you more money by avoiding overheating, which causes the HG to get whacked off.

ganito gawin mo para malaman mo kung blown gasket ka..tanggalin mo ung radiator cap tapos start mo pag tumilapon ung tubig kasabay ng start mo cgurado blown gasket na yan ganyan saken date...sana makatulong

i am not sure if overhaul is the right term to fix your engine.

blown HG is mostly a by-product of over-heating, hence the engine might have suffered severe heat during it's lifetime causing the HG to crack/leak. your cooling system, by the help of water pump circulates the coolant around your engine. when there's crack in the HG, some oil will leak out of the engine, and some coolant will sip in to your engine, therefore a mixture of coolant and oil will give you that nasty liquid color in your engine as well as your radiator.

since your cooling system is still functioning ok with the help of your radiator fan, your temp guage is not moving upward to indicate higher engine temp. also, if you don't drive far, you might not notice the temp guage going up. pero di ko i-suggest na subukan mong mag-drive ng malayo just to see the tem guage go up.

pakinggan mo rin yung suggestions ng ibang tao.
