Honda Brings Excitement to Hybrids with the CR-Z
    Words by Leslie Sy
Photos by Leslie Sy and Carlo Sapera | Honda Cars Philippines, Inc.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc (HCPI) recently launched the all-new CR-Z, a hybrid sports coupe, at the NBC Tent in Taguig City. This is HCPI's first hybrid car to be officially offered to the Filipino motorist. Honda felt that the Philippine market had a strong desire for a sport hybrid car when the CR-Z Mugen was first shown off to the Filipino public at a recent car show. This also follows the current trend where sports coupes have been selling well in the local market. But does the Honda all-new CR-Z have what it takes to win over potential car buyers to open their wallets and purchase one?

Modulo (6 speed Manual Transmission) Php1,470,000

You still get the 135ps even with the base model car. The MUGEN variant has the same power, just that it has body kits, wheels, etc.

I would think HONDA dealership showrooms would have an actual unit for display by now or in a couple of weeks.

Honestly, this car is so ugly. The design is weird. Just like the 2nd gen Honda city. Everybody is talking about it then. We even bought one.

Suddenly, my 3 year old nephew saw our car and murmured "Ugly kaar". I was shocked then and realized it. Sold it few months later.

Well, the good thing about the CR-Z is it is definitely NOT ugly. It just looks different from the typical two door hatchback cars we have on the streets. The looks are more sporty than functional.

If you buy a car and then sell it because a three year old doesn't like it, you've just burned a few hundred thousand bucks on a whim.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Oo nga. well practicality aside. Kids are the best to judge if maganda yun looks ng auto. Basta hindi anak ng fanboy.

Can't blame the guy. Perhaps he needs public approval before deciding things for himself. Anyways, as I have previously posted about this car: it is more of a toy than anything else. It doesn't have a decent rear seat to make it functional for the 3rd or 4th passenger. But it has an awesome drive feel. It is sporty, but don't mix it with race car. It's not fast, but it sounds one, though.

Saw a white one yesterday at Honda BGC. It was their display unit. It didn't come to me as a looker. The 86, BRZ, and Genesis Coupe have better looks (and more powerful engines), for almost the same amount of money.

Sometimes it is not just the car that is ugly. We people being fanboys tend to target someone personally for having his own opinion. Remember that this is a public forum and each person has his own opinion. Buying a car is an investment... Having all the factors present is an advantage before buying one.

From the net: The Ugliest Cars of the 2013 Model Year » Scott Bradford: Off on a Tangent
    4th most ugly car - 2013 Honda CR-Z
With the CR-Z, Honda attempted to create a fuel efficient hybrid that looked and drove like a sports car—a ‘sports car without guilt.’ That might have made sense if the people who like sports car tended to feel guilty about driving them. Supposedly Honda developed the driving dynamics of the CR-Z by aspiring to the Lotus Elise, the Mini, and the Volkswagen Scirocco . . . which all well and good, but those cars look great, and the CR-Z doesn’t. Sports cars are supposed to be a joy to drive, and a joy to look at. The CR-Z, however, incorporates the worst design elements from across Honda’s model line and mashes them all together into a repulsive little package. When are automakers going to learn that affordable hybrids don’t have to be ugly? You’re not going to lose the sanctimonious environmentalists by making an attractive car, but you might gain the whole rest of the market.

Remember guys, this is just an opinion. Respecto lang...
    Peace to honda sales team.

Brz and genesis are both good looking cars and both are rear wheel drive. However, they are from different categories. Have you tried comparing those two cars with prius? I guess not!

Earlier today I was at Honda Alabang for the PMS of my Jazz. Habang nag aantay sa customer lounge, pinasok sa showroom yung demo unit na CRZ. I took the liberty to take some photos of it. (Sorry kung medyo malaki yung pics di ko alam paano i-resize)
