Hi guys, i wanna ask advices and help from you guys, kasi kaninang hapon, tumirik ako (my ride: 1999 Honda Civic vti Automatic Tranny) sa may papuntang Meralco Avenue- Crowne Plaza Galleria to be exact.

    ang question ko:

    4. Ano dapat kong gawin?

    Please help me po.

most likely an alternator problem ... low charging current which eventually drained the battery ... the charge warning lamp may not lit because the alternator is not totally dead, e.g., the rotor coil is partially shorted

    pa-check mo alternator

agree... charging system is your best bet. let an electrician check the charging system.

nangyari na rin sa oto ko yan (civic LXi 2000). the alternator died on me while going to gateway.

    Hello,

    ANSWERS:

    1. Firstly, tama yung analysis ng lahat... it's an electrical charging problem. either yung alternator mo, bumigay na - or nahugot lang yung connections or nacorrode lang yung connections or baka NAPUTOL lang yung alternator Fan Belt mo. (which is very likely) - considering na laging baha ang Manila recently. I suspect - the connections. since you have a new car naman... your alternator will still be good - unless matapat ka sa lokong mekaniko or alaktrician. If you can find a trusty mechanic, the first logical thing for him to do is check your alternator if it's charging. He needs to first remove and inspect the socket connections from the alternator to the battery line and also from the rectifiers - field and ground lines. If OK, then he does field testing... normally, he uses some test equipmeents like multimeters to do this job. If there is no problem there, he connects it and jumpstarts your car with a jumper cable since your battery is drained. If the car starts and there is still
a red lamp on with the battery symbol or engine symbol... then your electrician check the fuses and relays or he can also do this in the reverse order. If everything is ok with the fuses... thats the only time to check the alternator.

But since namatay din agad... well... it probably was just a surge of energy.

    4. Check fan belts... get electrician/ mechanic... and don't be afraid to have your car pushed if it stalls. Under the Mango tree mekanik myth lang yung masisira daw ang tranny pag tinulak. Just put it in N - then you can push it below 40kph.... wala naman sigurong makakapagtulak niyan above 5kph unless ipahila mo with another car.... Towing it by lifting the front end is better... but making it run on site is preferrable.

Siguro, the cheapest way is to buy a new battery muna - if your battery is more than 2 years old na rin. Just to be safe.... Motolite can deliver anywhere ata. Then drive it to the nearest auto-supply or service center liek Rapide' or Gas station where there are mechanics on duty.

    I hope this helps.

Personally, I'd avoid Rapide like the plague.
