New ECU

Hi Gurus, my ECU has been changed by my mechanic, because of "ondoy". Wala naman daw problem sa engine niya, yung ECU yang talaga, kasi naputol yung 2 terminal at yung ibang chips may kulay puti na moist. Hindi ko na nakita yung lumang ECU ko, dinala na lang ng mechanic yung sasakyan na umaandar na.

3 Days ko palang ginagamit yung sasakyan and I noticed some changes on how the engine revs.

1. Cold start begins * 1500 RPM, which is the way before, but it takes more time than before to idle * 800RPM.
2. It will take 2500 *RPM (5th gear) to reach 100km/h whereas before, it's just * 2000RPM


Questions:
My analysis is that it has something to do with the ECU. Do I need to reprogram my ECU?San ba pwede mag-pa-reprogram at magkano?Mas tataas ba ang konsumo ko sa gas kungdi pinabayaan ko?

Please be more specific re the details:
1. What trim? VTi or LXi
(mejo noob question, since I think VTi lang ang may computer box, since LXi runs on carb. Just to be sure)

2. Stock engine? What's the engine code? PH16xx? D16X?
You can check the OR/CR for this...

3. Know the ECU number (p08? p28 etc) of the previous (if you can still recall) and the current box installed.

We need to know such as there could be possibilities of mismatch or the problem could be coming from somewhere else other than the ECU.

• Pwedeng hindi compatible or "proper match" yung ECU na pinalit para sa engine mo ngayon, kaya you can notice some differences.

(ie d15b efi uses only the p08 computer box, although it runs on p28 or other non-p08 boxes but not as efficient and smooth)

• Erratic idling ba? If yes, it could have something to do with intake sensors din kasi.

I have a d15b which idles at 1500 for 5 to 10 mins from cold start, yet it runs on the proper ecu box (p08). Same with your case. I think such high idle rpm from cold start is normal on vtec engines (not sure, please correct me if I'm wrong), nabasa ko sa isang thread about vtec kasi.

Better yet, check the new ECU and its code then determine if it's the right one from your engine. It's too early to think na failing na din yang ECU, although it happens din.

I think running on which speed at which rpm is relative to the load of the car and the engine - if you're driving alone or with company, aircon on or off etc...

Or hindi naman kaya pati speed sensors mo nadali na rin ng baha, hence giving false readings?

You can tell that youself upon observation. But I think in theory, a mismatch engine and ecu (particularly the fuel maps) or a failing ecu (ie failing sensors especially re air intake, throttle position etc) could mean higher fuel consumption.

Parang hindi sa ECU yun kung RPM reading and Speedometer reading ang mismatch.

either sira yun odometer o yun tachometer o kaya yun clutch mo dumudulas na. my 2 cents.

First time car owner kasi ako, nag-abroad erpat at ermat ko, kaya sa akin bumagsak ang responsibilidad sa sasakyan. Kampante ako sa sinabi ng erpat ko na yung ECU eh nasa taas ng fuse box sa ilalim ng steering wheel, at kita pa naman yung gulong nung dumaan si Ondoy. Nagulat na lang ako nung nag-lilinis ako, nakita ko nasa passenger side yung ECU, and much lower yung placement nya, tapat lang ng gulong.

Ano pa ang symptoms ng clutch na dumudulas?Magkano kaya abutin kung may sira ang gauges ko?

Another thing I noticed, Hindi umiilaw yung hood indicator sa dash, yung door indicator ang na-ilaw pag bukas ang hood.

Would it be possible na na-repair lang yung ECU ko? Hindi kasi binalik ng mekaniko ko yung lumang ECU ko and 10thou lang ang singil sa akin, napakamura, kahit i-compare mo sa surplus?

My analysis could be wrong, I just based it on the fact that only the ECU was replaced, before it acted this way. Aside clutch and tachometer/speedometer problem, what else do I need to check? Thanks in advance, Sirs

LXi is also fuel injected... so meron din computer box LXi.

parang hindi na computer box problem ng oto, try to change clutch components. ganyan din nangyari sa accord namin dati, lakas ng RPM para lang umabot sa 100kph. change the clutch components... ok na. kung feeling mo na medyo maganit yung clutch, try that first.

Ano klaseng clutch meron ang '97 civic LXi, hydarulics o cable?

Kailangan bang ibaba ang tranny kapag titingnan ang clutch?Magkano ba ang labor sa pagbaba? Kung may kailangang palitan, anong maganda bilhin, OEM or replacement?Magkano price difference?
