For me well I wouldn't call it timeless, the hatchback version is a little more exciting and popular. But its a reliable car albeit its old as you mentioned. If I could get a newer car of course better like the EK Civic... But if you're happy with it then thats all that matters....

i agree na mas popular ang hatchback than esi. pero nasa gumagamit pa din naman yan kung maalaga at maingat kayo sa kotse then gaganda at tatagal po yan. one of my friend na girl is using esi and also one of my former boss na girl din is using that car too..

i owned 94 ESI. Its not a bad car...i had to sell it because I can't afford two cars. Anyhow, i sold it to my bestfriend and until now, it is working just fine..still powerful, quiet, and reliable vehicle.

one offset of that model is the roof...many esi have started to rust on the roof portion.

maganda po ang esi. kung praktikalidad mas gusto ko sya kesa sa hatchback. VTEC na rin kasi.

dont doubt your decision on purchasing the esi, IMO eg and ek are the best looking civic that came out. of course kasi i have an ek eh.
wafu talaga yung car na yan... konteng mods lang ok na. ang dami pa ngkalat sa banawe and evangelista ng accessories kaya not that hard to upgrade.

tama sila, medyo sakit na ng eg ang roof rusting pero ok lang yan...
    enjoy your eg!

di pa sya VTEC. Ph16(?) ata engine nito. 1.6L SOHC 16V PGM-Fi rated at 120hp(?) or 105hp(?)... basta not VTEC.

For me, a well maintained ESi is something i'd pick over the the EK VTi except the fresher looking facelifted 99-00 VTi models.

The ESi is a looker, the VTi is more conventional. Not that being conventional is not good, the ESi has more styling touches that are unique IMO.
It has no grille, clean looking front. I like the slit-like headlamps which are small yet sleek. Even the door handles are unconventional. It has no rear quarter windows but just quarter panels, the trunk pops up via a strut mechanism unlike a regular hinge in the VTi. The trunk design too is very adept to different kind of spoilers. Kahit yung latest ducktail spoilers bagay dito for a car that is designed 15 years earlier bago mauso ito. The rear windshield bagay din lagyan ng wipers hehehe. The mood inside the cockpit is more airy than the VTi. Dash is expansive yet seemed pushed forward and low. Cowl is low, beltline is low as well. Really airy cabin.

Also, it has the same suspension as the EK. 4 wheel Double Wishbone suspension. Handling of this model is brilliant as well as the ride.

Engine? Though i hope na yung D15(?) yung VTi engine na sana ang fitted dito. Matipid at matulin din naman ang power ng stock ESi. You wont feel deprived sa kalsada.

ah ok. ty for that .so ang difference is 1.6 ang ESI. then 1.5 ang LX?
