VTi timing belt querry

my wife's car is a honda civic vti 2001 model.
the current odometer reading is 57,000+ kms na.
it's a secondhand car and the former owner (a doctor) said that honda civic's timing belt last up to 100,000 kms daw(?). is this true? tinawagan ko kasi siya baka nagpalit siya ng timing belt at waterpump nung kanya pa yung civic. i was quite surprised dun sa sinabi niya, wala ako gaano alam kasi sa honda cars.
sa lancer kasi, 70k kms ang palit ng timing belt.

sa honda po its 8 years or 80,000 which ever comes first.
