97 civic matic owners...

mga sir, curious lang ako kung ano po ang top speed ninyo sa inyong car(civic matic 97).... kasi I can only go to about 120km/hr... may technique ba para tumaas pa top speed ko? tnx po mga sirs...

before i sold my stock vtec matic late 96, it can easily hit 150kph in north e-way, may fear na 'ko to go higher than that, kaya di ko sure if it can go higher still. something must be wrong sa unit mo sir, pa check-up na lang po siguro sa reputable mechanic. i dont have a good answer sa second question.

i had a 1996 civic vti a/t na ek, umabot ako 165kph highest hehe, mabilis ang civic pero ang ayaw ko talaga is the jerky automatic transmission lalo pag 1st to 2nd gear..parang may tumutulak sa buong sasakyan hehe

i also have a 96 ek a/t vtec. i can easily boost my speed greater than 120kph. if am driving at NLEX i can go farther than 150kph pero, di ko na binibilasan pa minsan kasi natatakot na ako .... ...

it's better that u should bring ur car to a good mechanic to check it.

Top should be around 170-175... maybe 180 if you turn the AC off.

*mikey_civic: What do you mean: you can only go 120 km/h? Do you mean it doesn't accelerate anymore after 120?

While the wisdom of actually doing much more than 120 on a public road (unless it's the NLEX or Skyway) is highly debatable, the Civic should be capable of much more. Does your transmission slur on take-off (from a stoplight)? Or does it feel very heavy or sluggish? An AT VTi ain't no stoplight racer, but it should accelerate positively and smoothly from a stop (until it *jerk* shifts gears... ).

If it doesn't, check your ATF for bubbles and/or metal shavings, and have your transmission checked by an honest mechanic (a slightly-less-than-honest one will just tell you to buy a new transmission, whatever the problem is).

But I doubt you have any major problems... if you did, you wouldn't be able to accelerate past 60-80 km/h.

naka-125 to 130km/h ako sa north e-way pero hindi ko pa sinasagad yung gas nyan. i'm sure kayang-kaya pa ang 150km/h if i wasn't thinking about safety concerns...

akala ko civic ko lang may problemang ganun, parang nag taas ng rpm bago magchange gear pag 1st-2nd gear na. nakakapanghinayang sa gas! hehe

pag sinagad mo tapak sa gas pedal sir matindi talaga shift shock. try mo mild lang kung di ka naman nagmamadali. swabe lang din shifting nyan.

un nga lang sir eh kahit parang binabae na paa ko sa gas pedal eh umaabot ng 2500 rpm bago mag 2nd at 3rd gear. should i have it checked or is it within the norms? mmm.

i have a civic LXI 96 A/T. I can go beyond 140 km/h sa NLEX. I travel a lot from San Fernando exit to Angeles exit. Palagay ko kaya nya pa hanggang 160 kph because I didn't try to push the car into its limit. Maybe sometime
