civic 98: rising temperature on high speed

I'm a newbie here, also a newbie with cars. I got my 2nd hand honda civic 98 for more than a year now. Here is my problem:
- At high speed (120 - 140) tumaataas yung temperature ko, pero pag bibitawan ko gas para bumagal, bababa naman cya. Pinacheck ko cya sa talyer, sabi is try ko muna daw ipalinis yung radiator ko. So pinalinis ko cya (water pressure lang ginawa) and same parin problem. So What I did is pina overhaul ang radiator. Habang inaayos yung radiator, sabi ng gumagawa is dapat daw tanggaling ang thermostat kc ganun din ang problem nung client nya dati. Di naman "daw" need ang thermostat sa pinas, so as his advice pinatanggal ko na.

I tried to have a quick 120 - 140 speed run and mukhang di na nag occur yung problem (pero i still need to test it in a long drive run with high speed).

Heto po questions ko:
1. di po kaya thermostat lang yung problema nya, kaya nung tinanggal ang thermostat e mukhang ok na?
2. pano po ba malalaman na sira ang thermostat?
3. ok lang po ba na walang thermostat? Or I need to buy a new one at palagay ko?

there had been posts about the disadvantages of removing the thermostat. please ask the moderator for a repost.

Had the same problem with my Accord. Had the radiator hose replaced. At higher revs, the hose constricts and cuts off coolant circulation. This also affected the thermostat which had to be replaced too.

Sir, better have a the thermostat re-installed or better yet install a new one and replace all coolant hoses. Also, I am not sure if the same applies to a civic engine, but for the Accord there were other coolant hoses to be replaced other than the upper and lower radiator hoses.

Its a 10-year old car, parts wear out.

Maaring yong thermostat ang isa sa mga problema. Ten years wow!, long overdue na at dapat ng palitan ang thermostat ng kotse mo. Ibalik mo yong thermostat ng kotse (bago ah! hindi yong luma) dahil importanting parts ng cooling system yan ng iyong kotse.

Sa sinabi nilang hindi kailangan ang thermsotat diyan sa Pinas.... thats a BALONEY.

napansin niyo ba kung meron natangal na dumi sa radiator niyo nung pina overhaul niyo?

bilhan niyo ng bagong thermostat yan para maging normal ang working temperature ng engine niyo at hinde naka bypass.

EK din po itong sasakyan ko, stock na stock at walang naka bypass.

Madami po natanggal na dumi sa radiator ko nung pina-overhaul ko sya.

So bale need ko gawin are to buy a new thermostat (sa casa para sure na orig noh?), ipalagay ko sya para di naka by pass, then replace all radiator hose ( civic 98 vtec vti po ang car, dalawa po yun noh? isa sa taas at isa sa baba?). Balitaan ko po kayo. Thanks po ulit.

I think tama yung move mo. And while you are at it, the water pump (or radiator pump) to circulate the water pa check mo din. Worst case scenario need mo na palitan.

Kung tumataas ang thermostat mo it could still be working pero it's a good move to have it checked.
