parang gusto ko muna bumili ng Honda CRV M/T 3rd gen before the release of the 2nd generation Escape. 2014 pa daw eh

I already have 1st gen M/T CRV and I know how to source parts from Pasay and Banawe.

my questions are: ano ba puwede ko tignan na problem spots for buying a CRV 3rd gen say 2008 model M/T as well as pano ba malalaman kung Ondoy car. wala ako idea bumili ng 2nd hand cars eh

and also for Honda CRV 3rd gen owners, ano ba quirks and strengths ng car nyo. puwede ba iaakyat sa Pinatubo yun 4x4 M/T?

    pls. help

    4x2 lang yung 2.0 M/T.

    4x4 only on the 2.4L A/T variant.

(Can't answer your other questions, wala rin akong experience buying pre-owned cars)

ano ba yun FC ng 4x2 na M/T 3rd gen compared sa A/T 3rd gen. yun crv 1st gen ko kasi eh 7km/liter 4WD all city driving.

plano ko sana mag-ikot sa mga tour spots sa Luzon with this car, kaya manual gusto and also some ruggedness with comfort.

The fuel economy is much better. Good engine. Good grunt.

It shares architecture with the Civic 1.8 engine (it's not a K20, it's an R20)... but I don't know if the engine can use the same parts.

Only thing I don't like is the seats are a bit hard, but they're better than the FD Civic.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

niky, meron ka ba CRV 3rd gen? ok ba ito i-drive and yun road visibility sa sides and likod? kaya gusto ko yun crv gen 1 kasi simpleng-simple lang ang windows, not as fluidic as tucson and other recents cars, masyado ma-design pero parang it suffers sa road visibility. gusto ko din sana yun current escape na 2nd hand kaya lang kamukhang-kamukha ng 1st gen crv eh hehe

No, di kaya ng CR-V ang Pinatubo, masyado mababa ground clearance. You need the ground clearance of a truck-based SUV like the Everest or Montero to traverse Pinatubo's 4x4 trail. Jimny siguro kaya, meron ka nun diba?

Last weekend I was at Pinatubo. On board the LC80s rented from the locals, may nakasabay kaming convoy ng LC200 and dalawang Hilux 3.0 4x4. First time I've seen anyone with a modern Land Cruiser do some serious off-roading with their 5-million peso truck.

    What? Bakit 2nd hand.

Brand new Escape nalang. Or Montero na MT. 1.1 something million lang without discounts.

Pwede mo naman i-finance yung tira eh, considering na 700k ang budget mo. Or huwag ka muna mag-out of the country this year, at least brand new.

He sold his Jimny. Masyadong maliit daw.

OB, diba meron ka naman Explorer diba? I know malakas sa gas pero tingin ko mas kaya yun pumunta ng pinatubo.

Or yun nga, Mitsubishi Montero na brand new. Or Hanap ka 2nd hand Montero 4x4 MT.

eh kasi hanggang 2014 ko lang gagamitin. gusto ko kasi yun itsura ng bago Escape, actually I rode one in a Ford Kuga sa Lucerne Switzerland. and ok sya ganda pa.

hindi totally akin ang explorer pero I get to use it at times, and I load E85 on it. mas malakas pa humatak at mas bumango pa buga nun sa'min . eh yun bago Ford Escape as well as other upcoming ford, puros E85 compatible daw lahat eh. that's why come 2014, I'll be eyeing the Fords

    goodbye Hyundai etc.

It's not a great idea, but it can be done.

I recall one of the Ford Club guys convoyed with his son's Escape 4x4 when he brought his Everest. Couldn't go far in, but it could ride the regular trail just fine.

But it's not a good idea. The center diff is not lockable, and the rear diff is open, so if the trail is muddy or the sand is deep, it's easy to get stuck. And it won't work for deep river crossings.

And I've heard, comfortable naman daw.

Sementado naman yung daan papunta dun sa base camp sa Capas. Ang hindi lang sementado yung parking. Pero kasabay namin may naka-Altis lang nga. But once you get to the 4x4 trail, ibang iba talaga. The first few km, ok lang kasi dirt roads lang with the occasional dips and bumps, so kahit mga soft-roader tulad ng CR-V at Tucson, kaya. Di nga naka-engage 4x4 nung mga LC40 ng locals eh. But the rocks get bigger. And bigger. And the inclines get steeper. And steeper. Only out and out off-roaders can handle it - but surprisingly the LC200 is still capable, despite being more of a luxo-barge now.

If you just want a no-frills SUV na pwede mong ipang-harabas, maganda naman yung CR-V. But so is a secondhand Vitara or X-Trail, both much cheaper and more capable off-road than the CR-V. Hindi ka naman ata yung type na mahilig sa kotseng matipid sa gas since bigtime ka naman, so you probably won't appreciate that the CR-V is more fuel efficient than the Vitara or X-Trail.
