K&N short ram intake review

im not a guru, i dont know a lot about cars, actually, dito nga ako nakakabasa ng mga infos about cars, i just want to share my experience sa short ram ng K&N, para din ito sa mga tulad ko na nagaalangan magpakabit ng SRI.

i just installed a K&N short ram intake. had it installed in SOLAR GARD, near Alabang Town Center. the owner, is very accommodating. btw, its my first upgrade in my car hehe. no plans of changing anything else.

the sound changed a lot, lalo na when you floor the gas pedal, buong buo yung tunog, hindi tulad dati na parang payat yung tunog. hindi ko lang alam kung rinig sa labas, pero mukhang rinig lalo na at high rpm's. i tried to open the windows ng kaunti, and its loud.

as for speed gains, seems like the rpm goes up faster, siguro bumilis. and btw, what i can say is sulit naman yung money.

*gusto ko lang itanong sa mga gurus, pakitingnan nyo nga po yung pic, baka kasi may maling kabit or something. just making sure lang hehe. isa pa nga pala, ano po ba yung black tube na nakakabit from the engine papunta dun sa tube ng intake?

Magkano naman ba ang nagastos mo, bro?

Yung black tube na itinatanong mo, adaptor lang yun, mas mataba kasi (larger diameter) ang stainless steel tube kaysa sa intake mounting ng engine.

Oh, you meant that small tube? Hehehe... Sorry I thought you were asking about the adaptor. Silly me.

I didn't notice it at first, and now I, too, am wondering what it's for. :D

BTW, how much did you spend for that rig?

Ask lang po sa mga guru, theoretically whats the advantage in putting that ram intake? I am also an automotive enthusiast, reads alot about vehicle engines and a practioner po as habbiest. Curious lang po ako.

Not a guru here, but based from experience...

Advantages:
Better rpm response
More warm air in, saves gas when maintained clean
Reusable (can be cleaned, so it aint disposable)
Good looking sa engine bay [SIZE=1](daw, but for me the stock airbox looks prettier)[/SIZE]

Disadvantages:
Hirap linisin at pakintabin yung tube
Heat soak in high outside temp driving, lalo pag stuck in traffic, which results to "noticable weak torque response"...
Risk of splashing water on it, lalo na pag maulan

btw, i had one before, installed on my d15b...

sir, anu ba yung tube na shiny? yung nasa last pic, the rubber shiny tube. naka connect sya sa engine eh, and can you look kung tama yung kabit po nung MAF sensor! thanks!

kung 6.3k inabot niyan.dapat binili mo nalang ung isang buong simota .at bumili ka ng filter ng K&N filter at least may spare ka ng filter.
sa akin simota lang .kinuha ko..tapos ung hose mo na shiny..medyo hindi maganda pagkaka lagay siguradong naka umbok yan.dapat yan pinutulan mo ng mga 3 inches para level lang siya dun sa intake at valve cover..isa pa ung pag lagay ng bracket medyo gagalaw yan pwedeng yumuko.
dapat sa ilalim mo pinalagay para clean tingnan .hindi siya makikita kasi sa ilalim ng tube at filter naka lagay.

maganda talaga tunog niya kahit hindi ka naka headers at muffler parang naka stage 1 kana rin
