Hi people, ngayon pa lang ako magpopost dito sa napaka informative na forum ninyo, I am a first time owner of a Honda, dami pa lang mga code ng engine nakakalito I have a question kasi about my Honda JDM D15B non VTEC engine AT, bale nakainstall ito sa Japan surplus na car na I just bought last July.

Ok naman lahat ng mechanical parts ( or so I think), Newly changed oil, spark plugs, timing belt sa casa. Ok din ang engine internals. Nalinis na din servo kit and no overheating issues, naka coolant pa nga ako na Mitsubishi e. Ok naman ang hatak, matulin and very responsive naman pag press ng accelerator throttle. So I can say na ok talaga engine except nga for the fuel consumption.

I am thinking na baka Faulty EFI, Faulty ECU, faulty O2 sensor or faulty MAP sensor, kaya before I go to Banawe I decided to seek the inputs of the many good posters here

Any help guys? Thanks in advance and have a good day mga sir!

how about driving behavior of the rider?

is it aggressive or mild or moody or light footed?

7km/l is not so bad, but you can also achieve 10km/l which way better consumption by being light footed.

are there any modifications on your car?

like exhaust headers, large diameter tailpipes and muffler? the headers and tailpies can increase your FC by 30%(i think) because of reduce exhaust back pressure. while the noisy muffler can give you 100%-n% increase FC, why? sarap pakinggan ng maingay na muffler eh, rebolusyon ka ng rebolusyon

anyways did you check for leaks on the gas tank, refill tube or or gas cap? or your air filter element maybe clogged?

btw, anu ang displacement ng d15b engine?

There are a few small things that you can do.
    1. make sure you have the correct tire pressure in all of the tires.
    2. replace all filters on the vehicle
    3. get a full service tune up.
    4. eliminate all of the dead weight i.e. ( heavy things in the trunk that you can do without)
    5. don't do a lot of heavy accelerating and hard stopping..
If there are no major issues with your engine and running system, this will get you the optimum fuel economy for your specific vehicle.

thanks also sir, tried and tested na ang mga methods na to. Time and time again these have been proven to improve mileage.

thanks again and have a nice weekend

thanks for your reply sir, no problem with driving style, hindi ko pa hinahataw because I am trying to figure out the maximum fuel efficiency I can achieve with this.

Mods, none yet. Ala pang budget and also I don't know where to start, pero since namention mo yung exhaust headers, large diameter tailpipes and muffler, medyo mahal ba? And any reputable shops na makukuhanan and mag iinstall na won't cost me an arm and leg? I haven't tried or planning on installing these, pero if these can improve my FC then I suppose I'll go for it.

leaks maybe no, refill tube hindi pa, gas cap ok naman and air filter element is newly replaced with stock.

    oh and 1500 ang D15B.

thanks and have a nice weekend

headers and large diameter tailpipes will "decrease" pala fuel consumption. but improve the power output of oyur engine by atleast 3hp. siguro? sorry for the confusion

if mods habol mo, expect ka ng bayolenteng consumption! bayolente talaga!

I have a 93 all stock honda hatch. im planning to replace the engine to D15b, but i dont have any idea in technical aspect. im from Bulacan. san ba pwedeng legal na mkabili kasama ang installation ng engine? yung transmission ba need din palitan or kasama na sa engine yun pag binili? magkano ang estimated price ng engine at installation.

    Thanks sa magrereply.

this topic has been covered in greater detail before, i suggest you search using D15b as a search parameter.

d15b is a good match for your car. madami nagbbenta nito sa surplusan, price range is from 25-35k. your choice if you want to use the tranny that came with it (usually automatic) or convert to manual.

prepare maybe 40-50k for the whole swap including labor, engine, consumables, new engine oil, etc etc.

Just make sure when you buy the engine in Banawe and Evangelista has proper documentation on the surplus engine so in near future change engine processing you will not have problem at all . Bring trusted mechanic who know more about Honda engine.
