Honda Jazz Suspension

bago lang po ako..I recently bought a second hand 2006 model Honda jazz 1.5 vtec. Napansin ko the suspension is really stiff up to the point na parang may kalampag sya. What can I do with it pra magimprove naman. Btw, my tire is 195 55 15 and I am planning to change it to 16 or 17. Expert comments on this please.

It really IS stiff-riding in stock form. That's what high spring rates at the back does (around 5.0 kg/mm).

Look at getting lowering springs to improve the ride. Tanabe NF210s are a favorite for people looking to soften the ride.

How much po kaya cost ng Tanabe NF210s? Will this significantly lower the car? sa tingin ko po kasi ung skirt ng 1.5 jazz e mababa na. thank you.

Tanabe NF210s will drop ride height by 1.5", give or take a few fractions of an inch after final settling. I think they should sell for PhP11,000 or so at Speedlab.

A 1.5" drop is comparatively safe for Manila roads. Most people drop ride height by this much, and it's still rather conservative.

1.5" is very common and there aren't a lot of alternatives that will drop ride height by less. The only set of springs that comes to mind that lowers by 1" is TEIN High Tech (H-Tech), colored in gold - and I know only one place that sells it.

thank you sir for the quick reply. If I will change the springs, what else will go with it? Or the springs are the only ones to be changed?

You can swap out just the springs. If you do so, the mechanic will have to cut a part of your shocks/dampers' bump stops to allow for the drop in ride height. That's it.

Trust me, if you upsize your wheels and tires you'll have to give up some comfort. If you complain about how stiff the car rides on relatively thick 195/55R15 rubber, what more if you use 205/45R16 or 205/40R17 tires?

I ran around on a 16x7 205/45R16 wheel-tire combo for a couple years and downsized to a 15x6 195/55R15 combo. The difference is pretty noticeable on a low-powered car like the Jazz - and I'm not even using super-expensive forged wheels. The car accelerates better, handles better, rides better. Dorkier looks are actually a very small sacrifice.

One of the best things you can do performance-wise for a low-powered car without touching anything on the engine is to reduce unsprung weight.

Not advisable. You'll be throwing your speedometer calibration out of spec.

The GD Jazz is meant to run 175/65R14 or 185/55R15 tires. 195/55R15 is pushing it already.

nice thanks sa input. i read somewhere dapat di lalagpas sa +/- 3.5% and diff sa stock size.
