February 23rd, 2012 09:23 AM #1My Honda City 2010 was flooded by Sendong (Cagayan de Oro). I had it repaired. The ECU have no problem so the engine will now start. The problem now is that it wont accelerate or rev. The repair shop thinks it is the TPS (throttle position sensor). I already ask the price, outside the casa its around 10k daw. In Honda its 36k, plus Honda wants repair the engine. Honda hinted also that they will no just sell the TPS. They want me to pull out the car sa talyer.
Any advice?
Is it possible that i can buy TPS there in Manila, since Honda is hinting that they will not sell if done outside? If yes, where?
If hindi TPS, ano kaya another cause of this?
thanks

February 23rd, 2012 09:44 AM #2before buying anything, have your engine scanned with a diagnostic tool... for you to pin point which sensor is faulty... your engine might be in limp mode, it idles but will not accelerate.
for example, if you have a bad temp sending unit, the ECU might read your temperature too high and will enter limp mode...

Impossible to diagnose unless we see it firsthand. Best to have it scanned for codes.
If the engine starts, compression is good and it doesn't smoke, forget what your local casa says. Have the repairs that you need done elsewhere.

February 23rd, 2012 12:55 PM #8matic or manual... or when in idle, you press the accelerator, then nothing happens?? it just stays on idle?? if that is the case i assume your engine is on limp mode to protect it from further damage.. just in my case when my F6A engine overheated, the engine is running on idle, but when you press the accelerator, it won't increase in RPM since the engine ECU detected too high engine temperature and went on limp mode to protect it from further damage

February 23rd, 2012 01:07 PM #9its manual po. it seems similar to what you are describing.
So it might not be the TPS.

If the temperature is fine (check it by sticking a a temperature probe or gauge in the coolant), then it is possible that:
1. You have a busted temperature sensor or any other sensor, for that matter.
2. Your throttle position sensor and/or electronic throttle are on the fritz. It does sound likely the electronic throttle is not responding.
