Caloocan police get 1st case of carjacking in months

JUST WHEN they thought they had eliminated carjacking in their jurisdiction for good, Caloocan City police received its first case of carjacking in months.

Chief Inspector Cresencio Galvez, the city’s intelligence chief, said a Ford Expedition with plate number WWW-888 was stolen along Biglang-Awa Street in the city at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night.

Galvez said the luxury car's driver identified as Edgar V. Sermona told investigators that three armed men forcibly took the vehicle while he was on board.

"This the first carjacking case we had in months,'' Galvez said.

He said follow-up operations against suspects were ongoing.

While Galvez said the Ford Expedition was the first case of carjacking in months, a report indicated it was actually the second incident of car theft in the past eight days.

The Northern Police District’s consolidated report on carnapping incidents from November 17 to 23 showed that a Toyota Corolla Taxi was stolen while parked at the corner of Biglang-awa and Macapagal Sts in Caloocan City.

The report said nine motorcycles were reported stolen, four each from Caloocan and Malabon City, and one from Valenzuela City.

Brod din ng kapatid ko yun and I refuel at that Shell Station. Unfortunately, Shell Congressional is within the jurisdiction of Quezon City already (carnap capital).

Caloocan is more known for motorcycle theft.

MANILA, Philippines – A Caloocan resident lost her sports utility vehicle to a lone carjack suspect early dawn Tuesday.

Jamymee Rose Quinto said she just parked her white Mitsubishi Montero Sport (NQR 900) in her garage along Malvar Street around 12 a.m. when an unidentified man approached her.

At gunpoint, the suspect forcibly took her vehicle and drove off towards the direction of Cubao.

Quinto was not able to recognize the face of the suspect.

“Basta nakita ko naka-cap siya...parang pang dancing...pang hip hop...tapos naka-jacket na matangkad,” she said.

Quinto added that her laptop, wallet and other documents were also in the vehicle.

Delusional. I don't know how a mass market SUV that you see everywhere can be considered status symbols. Shouldn't status symbols be RARE and FEW and EXCLUSIVE?

Correct. It really depends from which part of the totem pole you're viewing it from. To the poor, a shiny stainless owner jeep would make you top dog. With the middle class, it's your Monteros and Fortuners. To the uber-rich, BMWs, MBs, and Lexus doesn't even cut it for them anymore. To them, ANY car is strictly hoi-polloi and just a means of conveyance. Their talking private jets man! - Gulfstreams, Embraer, and Citations are their MBs of the sky!

I have to agree. Hindi naman tayo mayamang bansa. Maski ako nagagandahan sa Montero/Fortuner lalo na't hindi ko afford. Kaya minsan ok din na yung hindi gaanong sikat na brand/model ang bilhin mo para hindi pansinin.
