    SIX firearms were found in two luxury vehicles owned by suspected illegal gambling lord Rodolfo "Bong" Pineda that were stopped at a checkpoint in Quezon City late Friday evening.

    Four short firearms and two long firearms were found in the two Ford Expedition sports utility vehicles with plate numbers XKW-204 and WFV-995 at the corner of Roces and Tomas Morato avenues at around 11:45 p.m., said Superintendent Lorenzo Holanday, Traffic Management Group chief.

    Pineda, an alleged "jueteng" kingpin, was not on board any of the two vehicles, he said.

    The two drivers, Ronaldo Bunalado and Romeo Trinidad, were briefly detained at Camp Crame but were released after police verified that the firearms were licensed, Holanday said.

    Police also removed the blinkers and sirens on the vehicles, he added.

    Pineda was in the headlines recently after Army captain Marlon Mendoza testified before a Senate investigation that he contributed 300 million pesos to President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's campaign kitty.

    napanood ko nga ito sa news kanina, pinalusot na nga daw ito sa 2 checkpoint pero sa ikatlo ay tinuluyan na sila.. nahuli din daughter ni Berroya, di nakalagay yung plate nasa dash lang. pati si Vandolp, dinuduro pa yung cameraman dahil kinukunan sya.wala daw sya time ikabit yung plates nya.. :twak:

    Baldo's nonsense excuse. What if a simple motorist without plates when apprehended falsely tells the same alibi?
