Kaninang umaga after I brought my son who is in grade 3 sa USLS (Im from Bacolod), etong si motor 125 cc siguro yun buntot ng buntot sa akin galing doon sa overpass sa North Terminal ng Bacolod City broooom brooom. Nang dumating kami doon malapit sa Ayala North Point as I am turning right, akalain mo ba namang minura ako dahil hindi daw ako nag pa overtake. Eh gago man siguro yun dahil I was driving straight and from the North Terminal hangang sa kanto ng North Point never even changed lane. I was cruising at steady speed of 80kph, heck I was not even driving on the passing lane and wala namang traffic. NAKA SHABU KA TO? At 46 years of existence in this world first time a kid young enough to be my nephew shouted at me.

Pinagbabawal po kayo jan for a reason. Wag na po tayong magmagaling. Salamat po.

I will also have to disagree on this. Based on the highlighted post, you are inferring that the presence of SMALL motorcycles in tollways are a threat to your family's safety. Here are some points to ponder:

    - the displacements of the supposed "banned" motorcycles on tollways range from 100-250cc. The said bikes can comfortably cruise within the prescribed speed limits and their average top ends range on the 10-20% of speeds above the prescribed limits. They are very very unlikely to rear-end your FAMILY VEHICLE at those speeds. If this is the reason, mas matakot kayo sa mga ALLOWED na bikes because 90% of them use the expressways on weekends as their playgrounds (the majority of them use chauffer-driven cars on weekdays) and they usually run in excess of 200km/h. Same sa mga exotic car weekend boys who blast away with their italians at speeds that everybody knows (tulad nung Mustang GT owner na nakapatay ng pulis after niya banggain yung Mitsu Adventure at speeds above 200km/h). Now in the event that the small motorcyle will rear-end you, it will be a fender bender for you but can be fatal to them. Kung matuluyan, then another one bites the dust. Bawas ang mga pasaway sa kalye. That will only happen either if you stall or run WAY BELOW the prescribed speed limits. However, the small motorcycle will be the LEAST of your concerns. Eh paano kung rumaragasang bus or truck or jeep or even car ang sumalpok sa iyo?

    - In the event of stalls na very rare mangyari, mas matakot kayo pag malaking sasakyan ang mag stall, like dilapidated trucks and jeeps. A motorcycle's road footprint is much smaller and mas madali iwasan in the event na mag stall sa gitna. Pag biglang nag stall na truck or jeep, good luck sa traffic or sa pag iwas.

    - Hindi lang ikaw ang gumagamit ng expressways. I use it whether I drive my cars or bikes. As per my supposed "banned" bike, I use it as a statement to exercise what should have been my right to use it but was taken away by bigots who were supposedly in charge.

    - Do you really know the reason why the ban exists? The very reason it exists is because there used to be a total ban and it got lifted because the AO that implemented it is "obsolete" and deemed unconstitutional as it goes against the equal clause of the constitution. When the total ban got lifted, a very influential big biker group who are trying hard to look like rednecks lobbied that displacements be limited to 600 and above which was argued to 400 and above. A lot of money and politics was involved that's why the discriminatory ban stands today. Members of the said group are prominent people of the society. Big company owners/co-owners, a former PNCC official, one a consultant of the MNTC, etc. Yes, their influence can reach the proper avenues. It was never about SAFETY. It was all about CLASS SEGREGATION. Quoting Atty Luis Sison (the former PNCC chief/big biker group member) - "People who use motorcycles below 400cc are poor and therefore uneducated".

This does not concern car-only owners.

Another pet peeve: Motorcycles removing the red colored diffuser sa mga tail lights nila.

Sobrang hazardous especially pag umuulan. Masakit sa mata and pag malayo, will give you a false impression na may kasalubong kang maliit na motor. Heck, I even had an officemate back then who did it to his brand new underbone kesyo para unique daw. He received a mouthful from me. I was able to convince him to return it to its original state because of took pictures of the jologs crowd who do it to their motorcycles. Ayun, dahil sa sobrang importante ang image sa kanya and ayaw matawag na jologs, binalik niya yung diffuser and it's back to factory spec. Kaasar lang. Mas importante ang image kesa sa safety. Hay....

Thanks for the background sir, but please dont get me wrong here. Sir, as long as those rules are in place and not repealed, what you are doing is illegal and wrong, and there will never be a valid justification to it.

As to the class segregation thing you brought up, tama naman eh. Thats what most of us are saying here: majority if not all bike riders na knaiinisan namin eh yung mga below 200cc kasi halos lahat cla bastos at ugaling squatter. Blame your fellow below 200cc bike riders for your being singled out as a class.

I just have to disagree sir. I feel safer driving at 100kph with other 4 wheel vehicles on the road than driving at 30kph with motorcycles on it.

That "sumusulpot kung saan saan" scenario will never happen on the expressways.
    - speed limits are enforced except for exotics na alam ng lahat why enforcers turn a blind eye on them kasi ayaw matanggal sa trabaho
    - no intersections in the expressways
    - uni-directional traffic flow in the expressways, no counterflows (except for that Altis which is a CAR)
    - speed differentials of different vehicles are only in the 70-100km/h range with a few exceptions. At those speed differentials with everyone else running, almost imposibleng magkaroon ng "gulatan" session with a small bike.

The expressways should actually be the least of your concerns when it comes to safety especially around motorcycles. Fact is, kung maalis na yung unconstitutional ban na yan, don't expect the jologs crowd to use it regularly if not at all because the toll fees alone are already exorbitant not just for them but even for everyday car drivers. Fact is, I only use them (whether car or bike) when running late kasi isang exit lang ang kailangan ko gamitin from home to work unlike those who live in the far south na patay sa traffic kung gagamit ng service roads all the way.
