    A Metropolitan Manila Development Authority aide tasked to guard against drag racing along Macapagal Boulevard in southern Metro Manila was injured after suspected drag racers ganged up on him before dawn Saturday.

    MMDA traffic discipline unit head Yves Gonzalez said the injured constable, who he initially identified as Reuterez, suffered injuries to the head.

    “Kinuyog ng mga drag racers yung bantay na MMDA sa Macapagal. Putok ulo one of our constables (The drag racers ),” he said on his Twitter account.

    He did not give further details, except that the constable was rushed to the San Juan de Dios Hospital for treatment.

    Gonzalez heads the MMDA unit tasked to watch out against drag racing along Macapagal Boulevard.

    The MMDA started this month clamping down on drag racing practice after receiving persistent reports that some motorists use the highway for their races.

    “Drag racers didnt like the fact that they couldn’t race. They decided to get violent with the Bantay Macapagal MMDA. Constable Reuterez was rushed to San Juan De Dios,” Gonzalez said.

    A separate report on "Balitanghali" quoted one of the MMDA constables as saying the suspects numbering at least 30 waited for the victim at Roxas Boulevard and attacked them.

    The suspects fled when an MMDA motorcycle team arrived.

    MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the victim had been discharged from the hospital and is recuperating.

    mga Honda Fanbois-wannabe racers nagalit dahil hinde nakapagpayabang ng civics nila...

    kung totoong rich kids mga yan bakit hinde nila kayang mag rent ng track?

    na post ba itong balita sa HCP? ano kaya sabi ng mga fanbois doon?

    Yup, motorcycle racers daw... but the news makes it sound that it's rich boys in cars that are the culprits.

    Maybe its not too much to ask for clarity in reporting the news along side the truth as well?

    My friend texted me last friday morning that there was gonna be a hot race sa macapagal daw. Some newly built i dont know sh*t cars daw. Baka sila na nga yun. Mahirap din kasi magsabi kung Cars or Motors will be racing cause sometimes, sabay sila in one night.

    Kung car drag racing to, hindi lang Hondas makikita mo dyan.
    Samu't saring auto ranging from skeleton owner-type na naka SiR na makina to evo-wannabe lancers.
    Sana mas clear na lang yung balita.

    always bring with them an 18-wheeler articulated vehicle to block the width of the highway for worry-free traffic

    Sabagay, the die hards of these two brands are not far apart. Yung sa Isuzu, may smoke screen pa yan.

    BTT: During such crackdowns, the MMDA should be accompanied by armed HPG personnel.

    Medyo hindi na maganda ang condition ng kalsada sa macapagal, the asphalt overlay is worn down, plus may mga potholes na. Totally dangerous for drag racing, illegal din!

    BTT: Yup, MMDA should coordinate with HPG on these matters. Actually, this matter is under the jurisdiction of HPG, and not MMDA.
