Website for complaints vs PUVs launched

The Philippine Star 04/16/2003

To strengthen the government's programs against unscrupulous operators and drivers of passenger utility vehicles (PUVs), the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has come up with text numbers and a website where victims can lodge their complaints.

DOTC Undersecretary for Information and Communications Technology Virgilio Peņa said yesterday that the program is intended to improve the two agencies' response to complaints.

"We want to improve our capability to receive and respond to complaints so we'll be making use of text and websites to reach out to the public. This on-line service will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week," he noted. Under the program, complainants could reach either the DOTC or the LTFRB by typing "DOTC or LTFRB space <message> space <name> then send to 2299.

They can also log on to www.dotc.gov.ph/actioncenter.
