    Its called "car cloning".

I saw a BBC documentary on it and didn't think it would happen in the Philippines. Yet lo-and-behold, its in the local news.

    The way it works...

-bad guys spot an innocent car, example: 2005 green pajero
-bad guys take note of it's identification stuff like license plate, chassis number, etc. They might even get a copy of the registration (via LTO or other methods) so they could copy the engine number and stuff.
-bad guys carnap a similar looking pajero, example 2004 pajero in blue.
-bad guys repaint it to green, make fake license plates to match the real one, grind off the real engine number and stamp in the ones from the orig green pajero. Same thing with the chassis number.
-bad guys advertise their stolen pajero.
-innocent buyer checks the documents and LTO reports it as "legit" 05 green pajero with no problems.
    -stolen 04 blue pajero sold.

Unfortunately this can be done to ANY car especially if there is enough profit in re-selling the stolen car like if the stolen car is relatively new to have a higher resale value.

It has been done to motorbikes as well.

The best tips is to check the engine and chassis numbers if they are original or if they have some tooling marks on them.

Actually mas mahirap i-clone pag customized exterior-especially kung hard to find parts ang nakakabit.

O kaya gawin mo super rice, jk!
