Hello Everyone,



I just picked Gabby up from the hospital and I finally got a full account of the events that transpired last night, leading to his mauling by a driver of a Volvo V70 yr 2000, with plate number WRU 865.



First encounter between Gabby and the Volvo was along Sandoval Avenue in Pasig. Coming from a dinner and movie with our folks, Gabby was on his way home with his wife and kids and Naynay. Gabby was following a Honda Jazz along Sandoval. The Jazz signaled left to go into one of the condos along Sandoval. Gabby takes a look at his rear view and sees the Volvo fast coming up although he was still a good distance off. Gabby signals right and shifts into the right lane to avoid the Honda Jazz. Volvo swerves to the left going against traffic to try and overtake Gabby, but has to hit the brakes hard as Honda Jazz takes his left turn. From there, Volvo seems to have gotten irked and chases Gabby down.



Turning left into Greenwoods Village, Volvo takes outer lane in an attempt to cut Gabby going into the Village. Gabby holds tight to the inner lane, and Volvo once again slams on the brakes to avoid a slow going vehicle on the outer lane.

After overtaking the slow going vehicle that got in Volvo's way, Gabby shifts back to the outerlane to enter the sticker only gate of Greenwoods. Volvo is stuck in the non-sticker lane with three other vehicles stopped in front of him to turn over identification. Gabby drives on thinking that was the end of it.



After 5 minutes of driving inside Greenwoods Village, Volvo comes up behind Gabby, horns blaring and on full bright headlights. Gabby wasn't going fast because there was a Meralco truck in front of him. Volvo tries several times to cut between Gabby and the Meralco truck. Gabby holds to his lane and Volvo fails several times to cut Gabby.



On the curve of Dogwood, Volvo attempts one more time to cut into Gabby. This cut was too close this time and Volvo clips Gabby. Gabby hits the brakes as Volvo loses control along the curve and slams his front axel into the curb. Gabby is unable stop and hits Volvo's right side causing considerable damage to his door. Gabby's Altis takes minimal damage but is forced to stop.



Three village security guards are present to see the confrontation, but are around half Gabby's size and are not trained to intervene in scuffles between residents. All three guards are stunned into a stupor by what they witnessed next.



Volvo driver and Gabby get off their vehicles and start shouting at each other. Gabby is 5'9", approximately 230 lbs, and not in very good shape. The Volvo driver is considerably taller. According to Gabby, Volvo driver is around 6'2" and very well built. Hayley, Gabby's wife, thought he was even bigger than that. Volvo driver throws the first punch and takes an MMA stance. Volvo driver throws several more punches. Gabby only attempts to block the punches coming in from Volvo driver. Gabby was hoping that Volvo driver would realize he wasn't fighting back and stop. Volvo driver doesn't stop. Several punches get through and Gabby takes a cut on his left brow. Several more punches get in before Hayley gets out of the car and shouts that the kids were already crying. By that time, Gabby is already a bleeding mess. Volvo driver, maybe in an attack of conscience, stops his assault. At this time, one of the guards regain his composure and calls the police.



Police respond relatively quick. Sirens were already heard within a few minutes after the altercation started. Gabby tells Volvo driver, "Ayan na pulis. Hintayin na natin sila." Volvo driver panics and goes for his car. Gabby blocks his way. Volvo driver shouts at Gabby, "Wag kang haharang sa akin!" He shoves Gabby aside and gets into his car. One of the guards stands in front of the Volvo in an attempt to stop him from getting away, but it was clear the driver wasn't going to stop for anything. Gabby tells the guard to just get out of the way coz the driver was probably going to run him over. Volvo gets away before the police arrive. Macho Volvo driver runs off with his tail between his legs.



Volvo is now at large. A blotter has been filed, and some leads were made as to the identity of the Volvo driver. We're going to hit this guy on every legal avenue possible.



Thank you everyone for your support. This senseless type of road range must come to an end soon. We're all sick and tired of hooligans like this guy, who think they own the roads.



Anyway, Gabby is ok now. He suffered some fractures near his eye socket. No damage to his brain, at least not more than what's already there.



The kids were, luckily, not fully aware of what happened.



I do realize there's another side to this story that I haven't heard, and I'm probably not interested in knowing, but here it is from Gabby's side.



We have enough help from various people who've provided us good leads to the identity of the Volvo driver. This story is just for those who want to know what really happened.
