There is a new gimmick of robbers and it's through false census takers. The modus operandi is that the people who knock on your doors and ask how many occupants are in the house are actually the feelers for the robbers.



Once these fake census takers find out that a house is not occupied at a certain time of the day, they mark the gate of that house with the letters "W T" using chalk. "W T" actually stands for walang tao. Sometimes, they would mark a gate with "W M O" to mean with maid only. Come to think of it, my gate used to have chalk markings from census takers, although I don't remember exactly what the markings were.



A house in SSS Village, Marikina was recently robbed of its valuables and furnishings. It's gate was marked "W T".



So whenever you see chalk markings on your gate, erase them. Never mind if the real census takers keep coming back to your house. It is better to be safe than sorry. This is NOT an urban legend so take extra care.
