Kung mahuli sila, sana yung katawan mismo nila yung gawing pang clog doon sa inlets. Head first!
Usually mga pedicab and kuliglig operators para mapilitan sumakay sa kanila mga pedestrianI've watched those guys make a killing around 168 when a sudden downpour flooded the area. Naghintay na lang kami bumaba ang tubig.
Dun sa nahuli nila, they know what to do. But those informal settlers along esteros, lumang kanta na yan. They should have
demolished those informal settlers long time ago and stop singing the same song year after year. It all boils down to political will.
LGUs should be held responsible for this thing.
We handled some QC squatters and you wonder what side the LGU is on. Even the squatters don't respect the LGU people (can't remember the name of that office right now). Im a very patient and humane person but the mentality of some of these people are really anti-progress and they deserve sub-humane treatment for all they cause to the general public. Wala daw sila lilipatan? That's pure BS. The gov't has relocation which they refuse to accept or they find ways to sell it off because they will lose their livelihood of sitting pretty all day and drinking while they collect rental from the working class squatters who they lease out their shanties to, and other rackets such as what we see on this thread.
Your right on the dot sir, they are professional, paawa epek kesyo malayo relocation sa trabaho nila,in the first place san bang probinsya sila galing,di ba mas malayo yun,but this LGUs are protecting these people comes election time kakampi(boto) di ba? Di ko naman nila lahat, pero most often than not it's the sad reality:evil:
Nandyan ang squatters under the protection of locally elected government officials who use their votes to put and keep them in power.
Wala sa interest ng matinong local government na magka-squatter sa area niya. Walang financial contribution sa local government dahil di naman ito nagbabayad ng amelyar (land tax) o kung ano mang local tax. Mas gumugulo ang lugar kapag may squatters, ramble plus criminals den victimizing the local residents. Dagdag gastos sa local government dahil sa kalat ng squatters, additional work for government employees investigating crimes emanating from this area.
Ang only logical reason to keep these squatters is to use them in elections, ito lang ang plus sa politiko in keeping them, the rest are all negative points.
Taft gets flooded so easily and it takes so long for the water to subside. My friend and I had to take a pedicab to cross Taft because our cars were parked on the other side. The flood waters were about ankle deep but my friend didn't want to walk through the flood waters. We still ended up getting our feet wet and had to pay P25 each - and that was over 5 yrs ago ha! Good thing we were able to clean up at the building where we usually park. Dapat talaga naglakad na lang kami sa baha.
