CARJACKING incidents decreased by 16 percent this year compared to 2005, according to an official of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Traffic Management Group (TMG).

There were 1,000 vehicles stolen this year and at least 271 of them were recovered, said Chief Superintendent Errol Pan, PNP-TMG director, in his speech Monday during the agency’s 52nd founding anniversary at Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Pan said they neutralized six carjacking syndicates in the country.

He also said there was a 50 percent decrease in the number of hijacking incidents (trucks are stopped and their goods stolen) this year compared to 2005.

Pan credited their “accomplishments” to “the cooperation of the civilian community in reporting car thefts.”

“We [in the PNP-TMG] have implemented innovative approaches in the neutralization of ‘carnappers’ and hijackers that led to their neutralization,” he said. “We are confident that with our intensified campaign against these criminals, they will face their untimely defeat.”

Among those who attended the PNP-TMG anniversary celebration were PNP chief Director General Oscar Calderon and Department of Transportation and Communication Secretary Leandro Mendoza, who was the guest of honor and speaker.

:fyi: Yes... carnap/jack incidents are down for this year... especially for the 2nd half of the year.

And to those that are doubting the said report... do you have any statistics to back it up? :evillaugh

Nope....no stats, here. However, I think it is rather one-sided....it's actually self-prasing.

Baka mas accurate ang data from Insurance companies.

Sa mga ganyan, dapat maraming sources, para mas realiable (ng konti).
