Ideally, i would give way to ambulance specially when their wang-wang is on with matching glaring lights. But sometimes is it really worth giving them the rigth of way.

    Case 1.

About 3 yrs ago along SLEX between Susana & San Pedro saw this ambulance with all wang-wang & strove lights from my rear view mirror nearing my tail so i gave way. We were heading south bound and got to tail it. When we got to reach Sta Rosa exit, saw the ambulance stop in front of Waltermart only to unload 5 passengers. The ambulance belongs to Sta Rosa City.

    Case 2.

About 7pm cruising the traffic of Mindanao Avenue heading Trinoma. I a near the traffic light at the intersection of North & Mindanao Ave, here come's an ambulance on the other lane doing a counter flow with wang-wang & stove lights again. Scoop his way into the busy intersection an headed straight into Trinoma when in fact V Luna hospital is just on the left side. After i turned left into North Ave, i stopped on the side to get off my car. Approached the 3 MMDA idiots on the middle island. I asked them did you saw what the ambulance did? They all said yes & in tune it's on an emergency. I ****ing screwed the 3 MMDA, What ****ing emergency your talking about when the ambulance is from Valenzuela and went inside the mall instead of behind you which is V Luna hospital. it took them sometime to realized they were just as a fool just like most juan dela cruz na gutom.

    Case 3

Just this morning along La Loma in front of Chinese genral Hospital. Got caught into heavy traffic and hear comes an ambulance from Marilao. Again wang-wang & lights on. To my surprise it never entered CGH and found it in front of UST hospital along Lacson.

With this abusive ambulance drivers who taught driving a car with wang-wang give's them full authority to abuse it, i have learned so much lesson not to give them any space. Sirens are for emergency so why the heck it cannot be brought to the nearest hospital in cases of emergency? The obvious is they may be transporting patients but then again, the case is not emergency so why the wang-wang. Worse, why is it used for other purpose aside from transporting cases of emergency specially LGUs that sometimes it used by their staff , security escort & outings. Again, why are LGUs being issued ambulances when these vehicles should be under the use of hospitals & DOH? What a waste of goverment funds (pork barrel) & PCSO.

You'll never know if it is indeed an emergency, so I suggest you just give way just to be safe. It won't take you much time if you give way to an ambulance. Just do your part as a responsible citizen.

    Its a sad reality.

looking at our rear view / side mirrors you can never tell

kaya benefit of the doubt pa din na meron sakay na emergency yung ambulance.

i always give way to emergency services regardless of their motive...

too bad that some are utilizing it just for the sake of the things the ts mentioned.

but i don't give way to those escort crap, except if it's the commander and chief's convoy

Sir sa Case 1, mali din yung ginawa mong hagad yung ambulance... you gave way but in the end sinundan mo lang so that its also faster for you to reach wherever you are going.

Sa Case 2 and 3 naman, not because emergency yun eh sa pinakamalapit na hospital dadalhin ang pasyente.. kung walang pambayad yung pasyente natural sa Public Hospital yun dadalhin.. or any preferred hospital nung family ng pasyente.

ilan lang yung nakita mong balasubas siguro. PGH is full of them from all over with some being turned away by ER doctors and referred to Jose Reyes instead. (which is another quality healthcare story)

eh kung makita mo ambulance ng funeral parlor pag katapos mo pag bigyan eh kups pala mag maneho

ano emergency ng ambulance ng funeral parlor eh patay na yon!!! :injured::shocked2:

ang hirap mag maneho sa pinas, need talaga maging defensive driving, in short... YOU are responsible for your own safety and no one else is :bleh:

You won't be able to tell if someone inside the van is dying. Who knows? It might be someone you know. Do you want to be the reason why they didn't make it to the hospital on time? I can imagine there would be a few rotten apples who abuse their sirens but I would rather be inconvenienced and let ambulances through than have a stranger's death on my conscience.

Kunsensya na nila yun if they abuse the use of the sirens or not.

I used to hate having to give way to them, especially when they're empty. But then, perhaps they could just be on the way to the emergency.

What I concern myself with instead are those hangers-on who trail the ambulance. That's the line I try to disrupt. You'll know who's probably really in convoy with the ambulance because of the way they stick to it (although as Doc Otep mentioned, this shouldn't be the case, which is why you have a relative or companion in the ambulance with the patient), but then you'll notice those who just happen to tail it with hazards on to save some time.

Same here. I always give way even if i have my doubts on the intent of the ambulance and i try to cut the line of those who try to follow closely.
