...or not pay any attention to them and continue on. In fact? do you clog the intersection? Or stay on pedestrian lanes? Or block the in-coming traffic by staying out of your lane?

what should we do to people who do?

9/10 times, if i know that there's a pedestrian lane coming up (like in Libis), I do, kahit 1 lang tatawid, pero kung walang pedestrian lane, or may obvious na overpass, bahala sila sa buhay nila...

    Yup I do...

Except when it is already a no pedestrian crossing zone (e.g. EDSA Balintawak Market) or when the light is green. Maraming matigas ang ulo na tatawid even though naka red ang ped light and may incoming vehicles.

As pointed out by theveed... maraming ogags na driver who don't even slow down even though there are pedestrians who are intending to cross.

I let pedestrians through, usually if they're on the ped lane. If they're not on one, then I don't. Pero depende, for example kung medyo tanders yung tatawid, I give them 5-7 seconds. Anyone younger than that, pasensyahan na lang. :evillaugh:

Usually din, I'd look for a ped lane/footbridge to cross on if I'm the one on foot, kahit matagal. Pero kung wala talaga, and I'm forced to brave vehicular traffic, I don't give oncoming motorists the eye if they don't let me pass easily. Ako yung wala sa lugar eh.

i let them through basta nasa tama. Nakakainis yang mga taga EDSA-MIA, basta basta tumatawid. Heheheh, bahala sila.

What is really annoying are those people trying to cross major thoroughfare that are obviously no man's zone like highways. The fact that they are so lazy or ignorant of basic traffic rules or their lack of basic common sense, really endangers their life and every vehicle coming their way.

yes. i yield to the pedestrians with or without pedestrian lane. provided that they are already on the my path. of course when it is safe to do so, i let them through.

it is a responsibility of a driver to give way to pedestrians at any cost.

With all due respect, this is why our traffic laws are so lopsided. Ultimo yung motorsiklo na nag-counterflow at sumalpok sa FX, yung FX driver pa ang may kasalanan at ikinulong. Every burden of responsibility is unduly placed on the motorist behind the wheel.

IIRC, pedestrians have their share of responsibilities too. That's why we consider jaywalking as an offense, 'di ba?

sad but true pero lets just say nabangga mo ang jaywalker. So, would you rather give way to a jaywalker or run him/her over?

    RE: FX vs Bike

dont know the whole story so I cant comment but Bike should have been held accountable for the accident. Unless, the FX driver tried to get away which would make him stupid since it wasnt his fault in the first place.

and yes, I give way to pedestrians at all times. [its called DEFENSIVE DRIVING in the US]

correct. sadly our laws sometimes doesn't make sense. i read somewhere about the laws concerning the motorists, di ko lang mahanap at maalala ang tawag e. pero ang sabi sa batas na yun, regardless kung sino ang may sala, kung sino ang nasa mas malaking sasakyan o nasa sasakyan (in case of pedestrian), may pananagutan pa rin ang motorista.

Yes. Because they'll be in danger if they stay longer in the middle of the road.

How hard is it to climb the stairs and use the overpass?

...give way to pedestrians at any cost.
I don't agree to the last part...

Pass by Libis coming from the flyover (from Tiendesitas to Libis route), and quite often, you'll be running around 60+kph, the road is dark and there are jaywalkers all the time who tries to cross the 4-lane road. I've personally seen 2 accidents where cars were rear-ended coz the cars tried to let the pedestrian cross... Who's going to pay for the damages?

Ditto with stupid people boarding/disembarking from foot of flyovers...

If it's relatively slow traffic and wala talagang designated tawiran, yes, dapat kang huminto para makatawid sila.

But if the road is planned to relatively fast and flowing traffic, and you try to cross it by sheer bravery (or stupidity), then that's another story...

I try to, but sometimes if you let one in, sunod sunod sila sobrang siksikan pa, tapos aandar yung katabi mo haharangin lahat. Is it worth letting them pass when the others won't? I think it still is, nakakainis lang yung di marunong magbigay. Especially if they're on the "ped xing" :p

On the other hand kapag go yung sasakyan tapos tatapag sa kalye attempting to cross, I flash my lights or honk the horn. Minsan may nakakalusot, tapos ang bagal pa maglakad.

If I'm crossing the road on the ped xing at the right time, and somebody doesn't stop, I tap on the car/trunk/door hard enough for them to think twice the next time they don't let peds cross.

when you see a pedestrian crossing the street do you let them through...
