I took the bus on the way to work today, and my phone was stolen by a salisi gang. A group of 4 suspicious looking guys boarded the (standing space only) bus at Magallanes, and stood next to me. I felt somebody take the phone from my pocket. Seconds lang.. I confronted one of the four and demanded for my phone. He said he was only reaching for his pamasahe. He showed me his empty bag and pockets. I guess bilis pinasa sa kasama. They were still in the bus when I got down at Ayala MRT. No police or MMDA in sight. Eventually went to Ayala MRT police outpost to blotter the incident. hayyy..

First, as usual, siksikan ang bus pero may naramdaman ako fingers going into my front pockets. I was quick in getting his hand and started to twist his fingers. He then shouted 'Wala o, wala' then as the bus stopped, he went down kaagad with 4 more guys.

Second again punuan ang bus and I was suspicious of 3 guys who boarded the bus. One was near me standing one step below the stairway near the door. Then I noticed his hands making the move with him looking the other way. As his hand were nearing my pocket, I started to move away from his hands. He was puzzled as he expected his hands to at least be touching me already. When he looked, he noticed that I was intentionally avoiding his hands and he looked at me and he noticed that I was staring at him. Next bus stop, he again shouted 'Wala' and the 3 alighted.

May unit kasi kami sa G.A. Towers.

One time, naka-tayo ako. Sabay baba nila sa may Guadalupe.

With all due respect, this modus has been going around for years now. In order to counter it we just have to simply be more cautious with our own belongings.

They favor long (usually straight) stretches of road like EDSA, Alabang-Zapote Road etc - all getting on at once or at separate points. Beware, they may be armed too, don't be a hero, just make it clear to them that you smell a rat by either eye contact or body language.

    Robinson's Galleria-IPIC (C-5 Flyover)-Robinson's Galleria

yes, pag nasukol yan, pumapatay talaga yan.

best response is to get the most attention from others / public. shout if you will, just don't instigate confrontation.

your lives are more important than your cellphone or ipod.

    Sirs,

do you think it was wise to blotter the incident sa Ayala MRT police outpost? I didn't mind losing the phone but what was in the phone, sms's and photos of my house and my family. I don't know if it's my being paranoid, but i saw somebody, a guy with close cropped hair, standing near my house when i left for work this morning. Di ko kilala yung mama.I turned back to get another look at him, pero tumalikod na siya at may kausap sa phone. Di ko na nakausap. I stated my home address at the police blotter.

It was in my haste that i did not think things through when i decided to report the incident. Now i am regretting it as my wife enlightened me. This is very distressing!!

Sir, saw your link...yup, same tactic or a variation of the same...now i am wary of everyone whenever i take public transportation..

now that i have read most of the post regarding these thieves, i have an observation to share..

from what happened, i believe these people, instead of trying to be inconspicuous and blend in perfectly with the public, want to be noticed by passengers when they board. Because I spotted them right away when i saw them, by the way they moved and their demeanor. This makes known right away of their numbers. It makes their victims think twice before retaliating against them.

I guess our immediate reaction would then be to tense up and senses heightened...adrenalin starts flowing and it either a fight or flight situation.

Most everybody in this case as was mine, would be to look for a way out right away. And they (thieves) know this given the odds, and use it to their advantage.

I hope these criminals meet their match one day...

Nangyari din sa akin yan years back bqka 2002, phone siemens.

From now on when riding on public vehicle, i always put my hands in or outside my pockets and feel the contoured of my phone and wallet to see if its still there,

My officemate was also talking about this a couple of days back. She encounters them a lot between Boni and Guadalupe on EDSA. They get in on Boni, mangugulo, magsisiksik then baba agad in Guadalupe.

I don't know if some bus drivers/conductors are involved but they say they cant do anything to these guys as for sure, babalikan sila.

Dapat sila yung pinapasabog kasama ng bus drivers.

Celphone taken from pocket..tsk tsk
